As an Automation Business Support Engineer you will have the opportunity to work with the latest k8s and cloud technology, coding for intent based networking, and advanced networking including PCE. The focus of the role is around pre-sales engineering and proof-of-concept support, while being in the research and development team and working on the latest features. There is a constant opportunity to learn and bring that learning back to the NSP community in the form of training and customer activity support. You will work closely with field engineers for customer activities, and PLM to provide feedback on how customers are experiencing NSP

The mission of the Network Infrastructure (NI) Business Group is to be the most trusted partner for the world’s most critical network infrastructure. NI will respond to the ever-increasing demand for networks with higher capacity, greater reliability, faster speeds, and lower costs. With over 1000 Customers today, the Network Services Platform portfolio continues to provide a reliable and comprehensive management solution to monitor, provision, and troubleshoot IP and Optical networks. We are constantly evolving our platform to support our customers’ needs of tomorrow.

You have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, S,oftware Engineering, related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • Prefer a minimum 2 years of experience with software design or development in one or more programming languages.
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with the target audience.
  • Solid Linux foundation.
  • Strong programming skills in scripting and object-oriented paradigm.

It would be nice if you also had:

  • Virtualization, OpenStack, NVF and related technologies, or containers
  • Network management concepts and management protocols (e.g. SNMP, NETCONF, gNMI)
  • Knowledge in NMS concepts and networking protocols: .
  • Experience developing, testing and maintaining single page web applications in JavaScript and knowledge of Microservices, Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, and Zookeeper.
  • Understanding of networking technologies, such as IP/TCP, HTTP, firewalls and client/server computing.
  • Strong knowledge of Web development tools, processes and environments.
    Experience with version control technologies, such as CVS and Git.


  • Learn about cloud computing and k8s.

  • Understand how customers want to evolve network management and automation.

  • Grow your knowledge in networking including IP/MPLS and PCE.

  • Understand complex customer use cases and how they work within NSP.

  • Work with both design and PLM to run new use cases and provide training to the field on the latest developments in NSP.

  • Learn how to provision services and infrastructure with intent-based networking. Understand yang models and restconf APIs.
