Join Nokia as an Embedded Software Engineer and play a vital role in designing, developing, and maintaining embedded software for cutting-edge optical telecommunication systems. You will be part of the software organization that develops the embedded SW for large-scale optical telecommunication systems. To support the needs of our customers we operate complex ASICs (application-specific integrated circuits) and FPGAs (field-programmable gate arrays), run SW (software) in an embedded computer network of multicore CPUs, we support our application teams with board support packages and a continuous integration toolchain and SDE (software development environment). Due to continuously evolving HW (hardware) technologies and close teamwork with experts in various disciplines, there are many opportunities to grow your knowledge, to gain experience and to develop.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE AND WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

  • Design, develop, integrate, and maintain embedded SW (software) components for innovative Nokia products.
  • Create carrier-grade application software in C/C++.
  • Ensure functionality of features and also non-functional aspects such as resource consumption and performance.
  • Document software development processes and key functionalities.
  • Collaborate closely with test and field support teams to analyze and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Assist project management with planning and scheduling, ensuring timely delivery of software milestones.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving coding standards and best practices.
  • Engage in cross-functional team discussions to explore new technologies and software solutions.
  • Gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge technology in an agile, fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree or Diploma in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline.
  • Excellent C/C++ and object-oriented programming skills.
  • Expertise with inter-process communication, multi-threading and other OS concepts.
  • Design analysis skills, including experience with software modeling, reuse, performance, testability, and extensibility.
  • Experience in software design and development on embedded/Linux platforms.
  • Experience with embedded component testing and debugging at the interface between HW (hardware) and SW (software).
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both spoken and written.

It would be nice if you also had:

  • Professional experience in telecommunications (in particular L1-L3 transport technologies).
  • Structured and analytical problem-solving approach.
  • Interest in working with international teams and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Fluency in German or willingness to learn.
