Position: Embedded Software Development Coop

Number of Position(s): 1

Duration: 8-12 months

Date: January 2026 - August 2026

Location: Onsite in Richardson, Texas

Join our Optical Networking team and contribute to the development of real-time embedded software for next-generation coherent optical transponders (400G/800G+). You’ll gain hands-on experience working at the intersection of embedded systems, digital signal processing, and optical communications.

EDUCATIONAL RECOMMENDATIONS:

Currently a candidate pursuing a bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with an accredited school in the United States.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE AND WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

  • Develop and debug embedded software in C/C++ for real-time applications.
  • Work with RTOS-based systems, drivers, and hardware interfaces (SPI, I²C, PCIe, Ethernet).
  • Assist in hardware/software bring-up with DSPs, FPGAs, and optical components.
  • Collaborate with optical, DSP, and systems engineers on integration and validation.

Qualifications

  • Strong C/C++ programming and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of RTOS concepts and embedded systems.
  • Familiarity with signal processing or communications basics.
  • Motivated team player with willingness to learn.

It would be nice if you also had:

  • Experience with embedded Linux or commercial RTOS.
  • Exposure to optical communications (QPSK, QAM, DWDM).
  • Hands-on lab experience with test equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers).
