NI IP Technical Expertise Centre (TEC) Engineer

Canada (Hybrid)

The NI IP TEC Engineer is a highly skilled technical expert responsible for mastering the supported products, from low-level implementation details to application-level behaviors. This role requires deep technical knowledge, problem-solving expertise, and the ability to confidently represent and advocate for the product in various technical discussions.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE AND WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

  • Interfaces to regional TACs (Technical Assistance Centers), Customer Account Teams, other Business Units, R&D and Product Management for technical consultation and Customer support concerns.
  • Debugs complex product installations, resolves complicated product problems by applying both established procedures and creative alternatives.
  • Maintains problem status and problem resolution records.
  • Prepares reports on problems encountered and methods of resolution applied ensuring overall system integrity and reliability.
  • Maintains awareness of new features and releases through regular updates with R&D, Product Management.
  • Provides technical and sales support for Test and Evaluations, New Product Introductions, Network Architectures.
  • Develop internal / external web tools and scripts - Conducts workshops for customer specific applications.
  • Coordinates upgrade programs for Customers - Writes technical application notes, field Alerts - Provides emergency cell phone support to customers on a global basis 24/7.
  • We work with the latest beta release of the products to spearhead the delivery of deep product knowledge to internal technical and sales teams and be the subject matter expert in product trial activities.
  • Collaboration with regional business center to co-develop and provide new release workshop to internal support and sales teams
  • Maintains awareness of new features and releases through regular updates with R&D, Product Management
  • Travel may be required (10% of the year).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to drive customer calls.
  • Strong analytical and hands-on experience in troubleshooting software or network problems.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills along with a proven ability to work with a variety of diverse people over multiple time zones and continents to achieve a common goal.
  • 5+ years of working knowledge of:
    • Routing protocols (OSPF, ISIS, BGP)
    • IP/MPLS Protocols including LDP, RSVP and Segment Routing
    • IP/MPLS Services (VLL, VPLS, VPRN, IP Tunnels, EVPN)
    • IPSec
    • Broadband and WiFi aggregation (BNG/BRAS/WLAN-GW, CGNAT)
    • Quality of Service (QoS)
    • Multicast services and traffic delivery
    • IPv6
    • Experience using Test Equipment for IP (IXIA, Spirent, etc)
  • Cloud & Automation – Expertise in cloud solutions (Linux, KVM, OpenStack, Kubernetes) and automation/scripting for network management.
  • Security & Traffic Management – Strong background in IPSec, Quality of Service (QoS), Multicast services, IPv6, and WiFi/Broadband aggregation (BNG/BRAS/WLAN-GW, CGNAT).
  • Network Testing & Debugging – Skilled in using test equipment (IXIA, Spirent), troubleshooting Nokia 7750 SR/MAG-c/MAG-u, and working with Nokia data center solutions (L2/L3 EVPNs, spine/leaf architecture).

It would be nice if you also have:

  • Certifications such as SRC, CCNA/CCNP, and/or JNCIA/JNCIS.
  • Nokia products experience (e.g. 7950XRS, 7750SR, 7450ESS, 7250 IXR, VSR)
  • Experience with a scripting language. i.e. XML, and Python.
  • Experience operating VM environments and servers. i.e. ESXi and KVM.
    5G & Packet Core Technologies – Extensive knowledge of 4G/5G packet core, CUPS architecture, and call flows (SMF, UFP, AMF, NRF).
