Senior Sales Engineer

United States (Remote)

As a Senior Sales Engineer at Nokia, you will be the technical backbone of our U.S. Sales Team, collaborating closely with the Account Team to craft compelling optical product and technology solutions for our customers. You will drive the technical evaluation phase of the sales process, leveraging your expertise in optical transmission systems engineering to align our Nokia product offerings with client needs. Your role involves traveling to meet with customers, delivering engaging product presentations, interpreting customer requirements and providing post-sales support, all while fostering long-term relationships within your assigned accounts. You will work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment that requires collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning. Expect to engage with both technical and non-technical audiences, representing cutting-edge technology in an organization committed to pushing the boundaries of telecommunications.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE AND WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

  • Drive the technical sales process as a key technical resource for the Account Team.

  • Develop and deliver compelling technical presentations and demonstrations of Nokia's optical product portfolio.

  • Engage with customers to understand their requirements and provide tailored solutions that demonstrate reliability, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.

  • Produce accurate customer orderable network designs and quotations. Provide after-sales support services to enhance customer experience.

  • Support marketing initiatives by participating in trade shows, conferences, and industry events.

  • Respond promptly to RFI’s/RFP’s, addressing functional and technical requirements effectively.

  • Foster and maintain long-term relationships with customers and internal sales teams to ensure alignment and satisfaction.

  • Train and mentor other sales team members

  • Collaborate with Product Line Management to convey customer feedback and drive new feature requirements and enhancements.

Qualifications

Qualified Candidates will have:

  • 3-5+ years of experience in a customer-facing, Sales Engineering or equivalent role working with Optical Transport systems such as the Nokia 1830, 7100, mTera, GX, DTN-X, Ciena 6500, Fujitsu 9500 or comparable platforms.

  • Strong knowledge of fiber optic transport technologies including but not limited to: DWDM, ROADM, FOADM, Optical Amplification (EDFA, Raman), OTDR, Transponders, Muxponders, OTN, Ethernet, SONET, Fiber Types and their corresponding technical attributes (e.g., loss, dispersion, impairments, etc.)

  • Experience with Transport system design and operation including the various facets of Space, Power, Cooling, Management connectivity, etc.

  • Experience with Network Management Systems such as Nokia WaveSuite, Nokia Transcend NMS or comparable competitive platforms.

  • Experience with Transport Network Planning Tools such as Nokia WaveSuite Planner, Nokia Transcend Network Planning System or comparable competitive platforms.

  • Experience with Network Analysis, Optimization and Cost Modeling.

  • Excellent presentation and public speaking skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and spoken.

  • Ability to articulate and translate technical concepts at the appropriate level based upon the knowledge and understanding of the audience.

Additional Requirements

  • Proficiency with MS Office 365; specifically, Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Visio.
