Field Competence Support Engineer Optics

France (Hybrid)

You’ll be joining an engineering team to be a technical referent, providing support and expertise for our Optical Network portfolio projects. The primary focus area is project preparation for WDM equipments deployment, which includes defining engineering rules, preparing rollout plans, and training and supporting subcontractors to ensure successful implementation on-site of our customer projects.

Description of Key Activities

  • Translate customer project technical requirements into detailed engineering specifications, analyzing project scope and initial inputs
  • Provide technical expertise for product implementation
  • Define precise engineering requirements that meet customer expectations
  • Develop and deliver site-specific engineering documentation to customers
  • Create, customize, and document technical procedures, configuration guides, and Methods of Procedure (MOPs) to ensure smooth deployment
  • Work closely with project managers to schedule deployments from an engineering perspective, ensuring timely and efficient execution
  • Ensure deployment projects meet quality standards and adhere to defined methodologies, reporting any deviations or concerns
  • Identify and document field non-conformities, proposing improvements to enhance overall quality
  • Stage and test new or complex operations in the Nokia lab to validate solutions
  • Foster a strong relationship with the expert product team to stay up-to-date on the latest product developments and maintain technical competencies
  • Verify and drive subcontractor field technician readiness to implement our solutions in the field, providing guidance and support as needed

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE AND WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of engineering documentation to maintain high-quality standards
  • Deliver on-site technician training to ensure successful implementation and knowledge transfer
  • Provide technical support and guidance to project contributors, including subcontractors, to resolve issues and ensure project success
  • Collaborate with expert teams to deliver customer training on new products and installation rules, ensuring a smooth transition and right first time implementations

KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Master’s degree (+5 years) or equivalent
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar role
  • Expertise on WDM products and technology (knowledge Nokia optics portfolio is appreciated)
  • Proficient with Nokia WDM supervision tools (WaveSuite Network Operations Center (WS-NOC))
  • Proficient with WebUI tool and CLI commands
  • Experience in commissioning, provisioning and troubleshooting is appreciated
  • Excellent presentations and communication skills, capable of explaining technical concepts clearly to different audiences (customers, subcontractors, project stakeholders)
  • Self-motivated and self-development/learning
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and changing priority landscape
  • Fluent in French and good level in English
