R&D Team Manager

We are looking for a Hardware Team Manager to join our US Product Development team. Our team is responsible for developing next generation 5G network radios for our global customer base.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE AND WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

As the leader of the Dallas DPD Hardware team, this role encompasses comprehensive team management responsibilities, focusing on both personal and professional development. The position involves supporting, coaching, and growing team members while ensuring their wellbeing and career advancement. The leader must effectively translate company strategies into actionable team objectives while fostering a collaborative culture that prioritizes overall product success. Key responsibilities include empowering team members, leading by example through Nokia's values, and developing diverse expertise within the team to create world-class products. The role also requires continuous leadership development and managing laboratory workspaces and hardware ownership.

  • Overall team performance, output and improvement
  • Budget (CAPEX/OPEX) planning and execution within own team (within given boundaries)
  • Effort estimations and resource planning
  • Ownership of development items within own team (assign development items, feature owners, secure delivery of e2e integrated features in (virtual) feature teams)
  • Ownership of maintenance items (Prontos and Defects) within own teams (assign maintenance items, load balance and prioritization, secure delivery and inheritance according to Fault Management Policy)
  • Accountable for following-up and meeting DoD
  • Quality ownership in team
  • Continuous across unit and team Quality and Transformation improvements
  • Technical leadership and contributions to HW programs
  • Ensuring co-operation with other HW, SW, and integration/test teams
  • Support for Supply Chain, NPI, and field teams as needed for program success

KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

You have:

  • BSEE or MS in Electrical Engineering with coursework in RF or Microwave technology
  • Must have prior experience of RF hardware development
  • Previous project/program management experience preferred.
  • Knowledgeable of RF Circuit Design and Signal processing techniques
  • Theoretical and practical understanding of RF Engineering and general principles
  • Proven record with previous involvement in successful product development programs
  • Personal Attributes:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Well organized and able to plan and track progress.
  • Insightful Problem Solver

It would be nice if you also had:

  • General engineering knowledge of Analog, digital, power, and mechanical design
  • Experience with manufacturing assembly process and quality standards.
  • Experience with RF testing, including testing against 3GPP and FCC telecom standards.
