About the Digital Credentials team
The Digital Credentials program at CDS will establish digital credentials as a foundational pillar for delivering modern digital services, enabling people to interact with the Government of Canada (GC) with trust, speed and security. Cornerstone initiatives include a GC-wide approach for sign-in and identity verification and a common platform for issuing and verifying digital credentials.
The Digital Credentials team is hiring Enterprise Architects!
This role is classified as an IT-03 and/or IT-04 in the Information Technology Group (IT). We are open to individuals with diverse linguistic profiles.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Acts as the organization’s expert technical authority on the acquisition, design, development, integration, testing, implementation and maintenance of enterprise services. Leads or participates in project teams involved in specialized enterprise architecture projects.
- Provides expert advice to senior management, clients and colleagues on current and required technical changes to the departmental/agency enterprise architecture and services, frameworks, strategies and roadmaps, technologies, tools and products, cloud technologies and services, technology interoperability on various platforms, technology life cycle management, integrity of corporate and client applications, the roll-out of technologies, service management and technical support.
- Provides expert technical advice and guidance to senior management, other departmental organizations, and external client and partner organizations on the design, development, integration, testing, implementation and maintenance of enterprise architecture. Provides expert advice to support managers and project teams on all technical issues relating to enterprise architecture.
- Designs and develops departmental/agency enterprise architecture frameworks and roadmaps, and develops and recommends strategic enterprise architecture improvement initiatives to departmental/agency stakeholders, in order to ensure that the enterprise architecture and services effectively support the department/agency’s requirements.
- Advises clients on IT policies, procedures and standards, interprets and disseminates government policies, standards and guidelines, and develops and implements departmental/agency standards and policies.
Qualifications:
- Experience in at least two of the following architecture domains: Information/Data, Business, Application, Infrastructure/Network, Security, Cloud
- Experience applying architecture standards, principles, frameworks and methodologies towards the design and assessment of enterprise-level services
- Experience briefing senior leadership and governance committees on architectural considerations and impacts to inform decision making
- Experience working in or leading an agile multidisciplinary team
- Ability to work in a highly variable, highly visible, multi-stakeholder environment, in the open
- Knowledge of architecture frameworks (e.g. TOGAF, ITIL, COBIT), authentication / security frameworks (e.g. ITSP 30.031, NIST800-63, ITSG-33, OWASP), and authentication protocols (e.g. OIDC, SAML, FIDO2, UMA, SCIM, LDAP)
Assets:
- Experience with modern devops environments/tooling, such as Azure Dev Ops, Github, Miro, Excalidraw
- Experience with identity store / directory architecture and related database formats (SQL, etc.)
- Experience with modeling frameworks/languages (UML or BPMN)
- Experience with EA modeling tools (e.g. Archimate, Qualiware, iGrafx, Visio)
