Overview:

The Corporate Counsel role will be a part of Mitel's global Legal Team and act as a business partner to international stakeholders, focusing on contract management, drafting and negotiations.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and evaluate the terms and conditions of contracts, with a focus on legal requirements.

  • Execute templates and/or draft and negotiate contracts.

  • Oversee all aspects of managing and administering contracts.

  • Meeting business objectives, by working closely with various teams within Mitel (finance, product management, sales, marketing and research and development), while ensuring risks are mitigated or managed.

  • Managing litigation files through to completion

  • Ensuring compliance with legal requirements and corporate policy.

  • Developing Mitel’s policies to align with regulatory requirements and internal strategic direction.

  • Supporting corporate secretarial needs, including management of inter-company agreements, oversight of organizational structural changes.

  • Assistance with corporate governance and compliance reporting to both Mitel Executive and the Mitel Board.

Requirements:

  • Licensed to practice in a Canadian province, with a preference for Ontario

  • Combined 5-8 years experience with private practice and experience with SaaS/cloud-hosted business models and related contracting and regulatory considerations an asset

  • Self-directed and motivated with a strong ability to multitask and work under pressure

  • Practical and solutions oriented

  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work harmoniously in a diverse and changing work environment

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Excellent interpersonal, customer service and organizational skills

  • High value for accuracy and attention to detail

  • Focus on continuous process improvement, identifying and driving change where needed
