Job Description:
• This job is in Microchip's NCS group based at Chennai for 8 to 12 years experienced embedded Software Engineer. This role is for an individual technical contributor, aspiring to evolve as Software/Firmware Architect and Senior Developer role and Job title depends on relevant job experience of the candidate.
• This job involves working in architecting, developing embedded software / firmware, Device drivers for PCIe and Ethernet products. This includes creating software architecture specifications, design, implementation, test plan, developer testing and sustenance for Firmware, Device Drivers, protocol stack, and Test tools in Linux, Windows, VxWorks and QNX.
• Being a Senior engineer, the candidate is expected to go through and understand relevant product specifications, industry specifications, and be familiar with software development processes, tools, techniques and be able to develop software based on specifications in expected quality levels within agreed timelines. This role also requires active participation in feasibility studies, review activities (such as specification/design/code/test plan/bugs and other review tasks with cross-functional teams).
• This role requires creation of high complexity software design, test plan, implementation, developer testing and release of software deliverables according to product specifications, responding to queries from internal & external customers, active participation in debugging and resolving technical issues.
• The prospective candidate should be willing to work on multiple projects in parallel, should work in a cross functional team setup, supporting both pre and post silicon stages of projects. Though works as an individual contributor, the individual is expected to demonstrate technical leadership, willing and capable to mentoring 1 or 2 people technically on need basis.
• This role expects a self-driven person, having a can-do attitude, willing to take up any technical challenges both in familiar and unfamiliar area from candidate's perspective.
Requirements/Qualifications:
Requirements:
• The candidate should have a B.Tech (preferably ECE/CSE/EEE)
• Good Knowledge and hands-on software development experience in PCIe standards, protocols like NVMe, NTB, SRIOV, Virtualization highly desired
• Hands-on embedded software development experience for PCIe based products, Ethernet NIC, Switches, PHYs will be helpful
• Experience in software development in one or more of the following: Linux kernel drivers, Windows device drivers, QNX / VxWorks device drivers, PCIe protocol, Ethernet Switches
• Experience in one or more of the following: ASPICE, Automotive Functional Safety ISO26262, Industrial functional safety ISO61508, Cyber security ISO21434
• Should be very strong in C programming; hands-on in assembly language basics will be helpful
• Good understanding and hands-on experience in Micro controllers, Operating Systems and RTOS internals are essential
• Experience in low level embedded software/firmware design, development, testing and deployment with any Micro controllers is desired
• Exposure to interface protocols like UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, USB, Ethernet, will be good to have and helpful
• Familiarity in using Logic analyzers, Debuggers, Oscilloscope, Protocol analyzers will be helpful
• Ability to understand datasheets, Application notes, PCB schematics is required
• Good problem-solving skills, and willing to learn on the job on any technical topics as may be needed for projects
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Should be open minded person who is willing to reach out to different stakeholders in a cross functional project team to resolve issues as situations demand
• Should be self-motivated, self-driven person, and a good team player willing to multitask within projects tasks according to set priorities
• Adherence to standards, guidelines, and best practices in the industry
Desired Skills:
• Experience in PCIe based protocols and related software stack development will be helpful
• Good understanding of PCIe standards, Ethernet basics - Layer 2, 3 protocols, Switches, PHYs, knowledge of USB will be a plus
• Experience in embedded software development for Automotive/Industrial sectors will be a plus
• Basic knowledge on security standards, DES, AES, SHA-1 will be a plus
• Familiarity in scripting language like Python will be a plus
