Job Description:
Microchip Technology Inc. has an Engineer II-Validation (Silicon) opening based in Austin, TX. Microchip products are at the heart of millions of consumer devices and networks, and We are looking for an exceptional person to join our team. The successful candidate will be a member of the USB and Networking Validation Team, contributing to the development and validation of advanced connectivity devices. This role involves working with technologies such as Ethernet switches, USB 3.2 hubs, PCI-Express, and other connectivity interfaces operating at speeds in excess of 25Gbps. The candidate will assist in validation activities, execute test plans, help identify and troubleshoot issues, and collaborate with team members to ensure product quality.
Responsibilities:
Assist in developing validation and test plan documentation based on datasheets, proactively identifying potential bugs and ensuring sufficient test coverage for production-quality devices
Contribute to specifying and designing test environments, including: Software requirements, Lab equipment requirements, Test board designs
Perform lab-based post-silicon validation, collect data, and document results
Collaborate with Design Engineering, Product Engineering, and Applications Engineering teams to validate new silicon products
Support lab activities to replicate customer issues and, when necessary, work with field engineers to help identify the root cause of customer problems
Requirements/Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline

2.5+ Years combined experience in one or more of the following:
High-Speed Digital design and/or Test
Analog/Mixed-Signal design and/or Test
Systems design and/or Test
Power IC Design and/or Test
Ability to create test cases and customer usage models that may challenge the assumptions of designers and architects
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Solid organization skills and the ability to assist in developing hardware design specifications based on input from multiple stakeholders and specifications
Working knowledge of Electronics Lab equipment, e.g., Oscilloscope, Logic Analyzer, Protocol Analyzer
Must be self-motivated and able to work in a collaborative group environment
Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Python automation for test development, data analysis, or lab equipment control
Exposure to IC Device Characterization
Understanding of one or more of the following protocols: USB (USB3.0, USB2.0), USB Power Delivery, Ethernet (10/100/1G/10G/25G), PCIe
