Job Description:
Microchip has an exciting opportunity for an Engineer II – Manufacturing to join our team in Tuscaloosa, AL. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of key manufacturing engineering responsibilities and make a direct impact on process improvement, product quality, and production efficiency. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following engineering activities:
- Work efficiently with both Operations and Engineering to create and improve assembly processes, actively owning engineering responsibilities for assigned product groupings.
- Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods to enhance production efficiency, yield, and product quality.
- Use continuous improvement strategies identify and implement design and process improvements for cost reduction.
- Create and maintain BOMs and document control for new and existing designs including drawings and assembly / test procedures.
- Work closely with design engineers, supply chain teamMicrochip has a full-time opportunity for an Engineer II - Manufacturing at our facility in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following engineering activities:s, and production staff to support new product introductions (NPI) and process transitions
- Assist with analysis of Production and Quality problems with a goal to increase reliability and reduce rework and labor hours.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical/manufacturing engineering discipline or related field from an ABET accredited University.
- Hands-on experience in a manufacturing or process engineering role in a production environment.
- Proven experience in factory layout, ramping, and optimization highly desired.
- Ability to think holistically and creatively to introduce unique solutions to problems.
- Ability to manage multiple projects.
- Familiarity with ERP and MRP systems.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma,
- Strong Microsoft Office skills with a high proficiency in Excel.
- Must be well organized with an ability to multitask and work on a diverse set of problems while simultaneously being on a steep learning curve.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly present and discuss manufacturing information to technical and non-technical team members.
