Job Description:
Job Purpose:
The Software Asset Management Engineer will join the IT Asset Management (ITAM) Group, overseeing Software assets throughout their life cycle. This role ensures effective management, optimization, and compliance with all regulations and policies. The candidate will collaborate with various teams at Microchip Technology Inc. and report to the IT Asset Manager in the Philippines.
Responsibilities:
- Implement an effective Software Asset Management (SAM) Program to achieve maximum value and minimal risk for the organization. Oversee the Software Asset Lifecycle, including acquisition, deployment, maintenance, and retirement.
- Monitor and analyze software usage data and installations to identify unused or underutilized software for reclamation or reallocation. Look for areas for improvement and optimization opportunities that will maximize savings and value in every spending.
- Administer and configure ServiceNow SAM Professional to automate software discovery, normalization, and reconciliation. Manage software license rights, entitlements, allocations, and compliance positions. Leverage ServiceNow’s Content Service for normalized software data and real-time compliance.
- Manage vendor licensing agreements and entitlements, track and negotiate renewals, ensure alignment with organizational goals and budget.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with agreements and regulatory standards. Work with IT Security, Legal, HR and Finance in managing software-related risks and process improvements.
- Design and implement ServiceNow Catalog Request workflows, approval, and reclamation.
- Manage the software request process to improve software delivery and make sure it is compliant across the organization to ensure proper usage and prevent unauthorize installation that could pose Security risks.
- Generate dashboards and detailed reports on software usage, compliance status, and cost trends. Use analytics to support strategic decision-making and reduce audit risks.
- Provide training and guidance on policies and procedures, organize regular workshops and training sessions that cover essential topics related to SAM best practices, license compliance and security risks.
- Develop and implement strategies for continuous improvement in the SAM program, staying abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies. Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels to promote awareness and adherence to ITAM policies.
- Contribute to achieving the highest level of maturity in ITAM operations.
- Maintain a high degree of accountability, excellent customer service for all support queries across the organization.
- Lead and mentor junior team members, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment that encourages growth and development. Provide guidance, support, and training to help junior members achieve their full potential.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or any Information Technology equivalent work experience.
- Strong understanding of IT Asset Management (ITAM), particularly in Software Asset Management (SAM) policies, procedures, and best practices.
- 5+ years of working experience in Software Asset Lifecycle Management.
- 5+ years of working experience in interpreting licensing models for major publishers like Microsoft, Adobe, and other software.
- Knowledgeable of IT Technologies, Hardware, Software & Servers.
- Working knowledge of ITSM system & ITAM tools such as ServiceNow, Ivanti, or any related tools.
- Proficiency in data analytics, pivot tables and strong background in auditing and managing data.
- Working knowledge in Power BI and ServiceNow SAM Professional.
- IT Asset Management and Discovery Tools experience
- IAITAM CSAM Certification is an advantage.
- ITIL v4 foundation certification is an advantage.
- Creative mindset towards savings and process improvements.
- Excellent verbal and written communication (English)
- Highly organized and detail oriented.
