Job Description:
Microchip’s Frequency and Time Systems (FTS) business unit is a rapidly growing, world leader in precise time solutions and sets the world's standard for time. The business unit generates, distributes, and applies precise time for the aerospace, defense, communications, IT infrastructure, and metrology industries. Microchip's customers are able to build more reliable networks and systems by using the company's advanced timing technologies, atomic clocks, services, and solutions. Microchip products support today's precise timing standards, including GPS-based timing, IEEE 1588 (PTP), Network Time Protocol (NTP), Synchronous Ethernet, and more.
Our Government Systems group in Boulder, CO is seeking a Technical Program Manager to join our growing team. In this position, the individual will lead contract funded and IR&D programs/projects through the full lifecycle (concept through final delivery/warranty services). Programs/Projects consist of R&D, embedded product development, and large-scale system deployments. A wide range of technical areas are covered, including frequency and time, GPS/GNSS, PNT (position, navigation, and time), RF and signal processing, metrology, and data analysis. Cutting edge, custom technology is developed and applied to meet our customers’ needs and support critical infrastructure and missions.
The successful candidate must have experience with complex, multidisciplinary development and/or installation programs/projects. Demonstrated experience leading teams through system requirements reviews, preliminary design reviews, critical design reviews, and test readiness reviews is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who is willing and able to contribute technically to projects, as needed, to lead cross matrixed team(s) to successfully accomplish the programs/projects tasks. In-depth experience with government contract proposal generation, contract review, and other business negotiations and development activities is desired. This position requires core expertise and excellent performance in both internal and external communications as the POC, IMS, forecast, and resource plan creation and execution as well as identity, status, and prevent/mitigate risks. The Technical Program Manager will need to manage multidisciplinary, matrixed teams through schedule and personnel effectively. The ideal candidate has a general understanding of the supply chain and experience with hardware tracking and ordering, coordinating with buyers, planners, and vendors, requesting, and negotiating quotes and timeliness establishing alternative solutions, when needed.
The Microchip FTS business unit requires a highly motivated Technical Program Manager who has experience in directly performing /or leading engineering roles in Systems, Hardware/Design, Software, and/or Integration. It is preferred that the candidate has demonstrated experience in initiating and leading scrums and/or task force efforts.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
- A minimum of 8 years of demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Program/project leadership in a structured, multidisciplinary, aerospace/defense contract research, development, and integration environment
- Leading teams through system requirements reviews, preliminary design reviews, critical design reviews, and test readiness reviews
- Government contract proposal generation, contract review, and other business negotiations and development activities
- Directly performing or leading engineering roles in Systems, Hardware/Design, Software, and/or Integration.
- Leading a program/project through product lifecycle including requirements definition, design, development, test, and sustainment
- Skilled in the use of MS Project, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, and MS Word
- Effective English language written and oral communication skills
- US Citizenship
Additional Desired Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in an engineering discipline
- A background in timing, navigation, or GPS/GNSS systems
- PMI certification
- Active TS/SCI clearance strongly preferred

The annual base salary range for this position, which could be performed in Colorado, is $88,000-$232,000.**Range is dependent on numerous factors including job location, skills and experience.
