Job Description:

Job Summary: The Data Center administrator with Linux expertise is responsible for the day-to-day operations, maintenance, and monitoring of data center infrastructure. This role requires a strong understanding of Linux systems, as well as the ability to troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues. The operator will ensure the data center runs efficiently and securely, maintaining high availability and performance standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. System Monitoring and Maintenance:

  • Monitor data center infrastructure, including servers, storage, and network equipment.
  • Perform regular system checks and maintenance tasks to ensure optimal performance.
  • Use monitoring tools to track system performance and identify potential issues.

2. Linux System Administration:

  • Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers and related software.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and security settings on Linux systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve Linux-related issues, including performance tuning and system crashes.

3. Hardware Management:

  • Install, configure, and maintain data center hardware, including servers, switches, and storage devices.
  • Perform hardware diagnostics and repairs as needed in coordination with OEM
  • Coordinate with vendors for hardware support and replacements.

3 Network Management:

  • Monitor and maintain network infrastructure within the data center.
  • Troubleshoot network issues and coordinate with network engineers for resolution.

4. Backup and Recovery:

  • Implement and manage backup and recovery procedures for critical data and systems.
  • Perform regular backups and test recovery processes to ensure data integrity.

5. Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of data center operations, configurations, and procedures.
  • Generate regular reports on system performance, incidents, and maintenance activities.

6. Security and Compliance:

  • Ensure data center operations comply with organizational security policies and industry standards.
  • Implement and monitor security measures to protect data and systems from unauthorized access.

7. Collaboration and Support:

  • Work closely with IT teams, including network, security, and application support, to ensure seamless operations.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to other team members and end-users as needed.

Requirements/Qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in data center operations and Linux system administration.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in Linux operating systems (e.g., Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu).
  • Experience with data center hardware, including servers, storage, and networking equipment.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python) for automation tasks.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix) and backup solutions.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Linux+, Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), or similar are a plus.
  • Soft Skills:
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, 24/7 environment and handle on-call duties.
