Job Description:

Microchip Frequency and Time Systems (FTS), a world leader in precise time solutions, sets the world’s standard for time. The company generates, distributes, and applies precise time for the communications, aerospace / defense, IT infrastructure and metrology industries. FTS customers, from telecom service providers and network equipment manufacturers to governments and their suppliers worldwide, can build more reliable networks and systems by using our company’s advanced timing technologies, atomic clocks, services, and solutions.

Job Summary

As a Manufacturing Technician, you will have a direct impact on the quality of procured and manufactured products for manufacturing operations at our Boulder site. This job position has dual responsibilities with both manufacturing assembly and delegated quality inspection activities.

As an Inspector; you will be responsible for providing QC support which includes incoming, in-process and final inspections through engagement in cross-functional teamwork while identifying improvements to our processes and procedures.

As a Manufacturing Assembler; you will be responsible for production activities such as electrical and mechanical box build assembly, cables, rework and repair of material and populate PCBAs (both through-hole and surface-mount).

Inspection Duties & Responsibilities

  • Inspects and approves incoming materials by ensuring conformance to specifications, standards, process, and conducting visual and measurement tests
  • Inspects in-process production by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, communicating required adjustments by working closely with and communicating clearly with engineers, production, material planning and control, and other QA personnel
  • Approves finished products by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, returning products for rework, and confirming rework

Manufacturing Assembler Duties & Responsibilities

  • Read and work from assembly drawings, wiring diagrams, parts list while performing work and assembly processes that meet or exceed IPC standards
  • Work to production schedules and timelines and performing tasks in a timely manner
  • Successfully pass IPC-A-610 certification training within 3 months and both IPC/WHMA-A-620 & IPC J-STD-001 certification training within 6 months
  • May perform non-established, non-routine builds of product and subassemblies in support of R&D, test and special projects as requested

Qualifications, Knowledge and Key Skills

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent; or equivalent relevant work experience is required
  • Experience in a manufacturing or similar environment, preferably printed circuit board design / electronics assemblies
  • Must be able to read and understand engineering drawings, diagrams, bill of materials, specifications, processes, procedures, revision control requirements, basic geometric dimensioning and tolerance
  • Perform basic dimensional inspections with instruments such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, standard and special gauges, pull testers, microscopes, etc.
  • Apply / enforce / comprehend criteria for acceptance and rejection of inspected items
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented person who can manage a fast-paced environment, has a sense of urgency, and will prioritize tasks to meet internal goals
  • Good verbal and written communication skills are essential. Must have the ability to work with people at various levels, including operators, inspectors, manufacturing supervisor, quality and manufacturing engineers, customer and government representatives
  • Proficient in computer skills and with various software applications
  • This job requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by the export laws of the United States. Candidates are required to provide proof of US citizenship.

Desirable

  • ISO 9001 / AS9100 standards familiarity and experience with application in the inspection environment
  • Active IPC 610, 620 and J-STD certifications
  • Experience with non-conformance, material review board, dispositioning NCs
  • Experience with 5S / 6S principles and methodologies
  • Understanding of the audit process including execution during customer audits or other internal / external quality audits

The hourly pay range for this position, which could be performed in Colorado, is $20.50/HR-$35.00/HR.*
