Job Description:

Microchip’s Data Center Solutions Business Unit (DCS) delivers industry leading performance, reliability, and security in Storage Controllers, Memory Controllers, NVMe SSD Controllers, PCIe Switches and SAS Expanders that are applied in Cloud Storage and Compute Data Centers, and Storage Area Networks.

The DCS System Validation group is looking for an experience and motivated individual who can take on the challenging and highly rewarding role of a Technical Manager - System Validation. As a Manager in System Validation, you will join a group of world class talented system integrators responsible for the bring-up, integration and validation of cutting-edge System on a Chip (SoC) products for the Data Center Solutions Business Unit. The position offers highly rewarding opportunity to work with versatile and dedicated engineers on cutting edge technology like CXL, PCIe Gen5/6, SAS/SATA or DDR4/5.

About the Job:

As a technical manager, you will be managing a team of system engineers responsible for integration and validation of pre-silicon and first-silicon prototype SOCs to ensure all HW and FW components and the overall SoC is functioning per design specs, achieves expected performance and meets industry standards before it’s released to production. The team consists of system and FW engineers that develop, execute and document a series of Feature Tests which fully validate all functional blocks of an IC and associated FW.

Team tasks include designing and building infrastructure that is required to integrate and validate the SoC for its intended use models. This involves building the entire prototype ecosystem like boards, FPGAs, FW, Software and Automation suites. Then, further integrating this environment with internally developed test equipment, protocol analyzers, exercisers and x86 based HW.

Job Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director - System Validation, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Managing all aspects of the validation team day to day activity and ensuring the prototype device is released to production at highest quality, matching design specs, industry specifications and customer requirements.

  • Managing a team of talented system engineers and leading them in planning, developing and building boards, test infrastructure, tools and test FW for complex SoC validation.

  • Developing comprehensive validation plans and leading their implementation and execution on emulation and “first-silicon”.

  • Technically leading the team in SOC bring-up and HW/FW integration while working together with other functional groups.

  • Managing test execution schedule, priorities, resources and tracking progress. Ensuring test results are well documented, reviewed, and archived.

  • Growing, training and mentoring team

  • Planning, sourcing, and managing all resources required for the project execution. Actively monitoring plan execution and developing schedule and test coverage contingency plans. Taking appropriate actions to ensure execution meets highest industry standards and prevents late discovery of defects.

  • Managing development and manufacturing logistics of validation boards or other test HW.

  • Overlooking project budget and planning spending forecast.

  • Managing lab infrastructure and working with test equipment vendors to secure and evaluate cutting edge equipment needed for the projects.

  • Developing improvements to test execution methodology and test coverage

  • Leading investigations teams, tracking defects and assisting in troubleshooting of complex technical problems.

  • Reporting project status to Director and Project Management Team. Presenting technical information to internal and extern groups
