Role :
As part of the System Engineering Department, the Satellite and Payload System Test Authority will be responsible for the definition of Test Plans, Test Methods and Requirements, Ground Test Equipment definition support, implementation and testing in support of MDA Digital Telecommunication satellite payloads.
Tasks
The Payload Test Authority engineer will perform, be responsible and participate in the following tasks and activities:
- Trade-off studies to design and develop Test Plans for Satellites and Payloads, aligning with verification & validation matrices and Program objectives
- Lead and develop Test Methods and Test requirements; oversee Test Procedures and their execution
- Maintain the verification & validation Matrices over the course of the program life cycle all the way to on-orbit commissioning in coordination with the SatOps team
- Lead and coordinate Satellite and payload testing: EGSE, Test supervision, data analysis, trending…Test reports
- Support the development of Satellite Operation Manuals and associated trainings.
- Develop and support In-Orbit Test (IOT) and anomaly resolution.
Must haves
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical engineering in a relevant field
- At least 10 years of relevant practical experience in digital communication commercial application in the space domain
- Previous experience with LEO/MEO/GEO satellite communication systems
- Understanding of Phased Array Antenna with multiple active elements and knowledge of various modulation types, signal processing and Networking
- Systems Engineering experience in concepts of space and ground segment, specification and integration, knowledge of Flight Software, Satellite Database
- Knowledge of Python or other scripting languages
Complementary skills/knowledge
- Previous experience in Constellation Operations
- Development and testing of new automated methodologies
- Knowledge of requirements Management tools such as DOORS/Windchill/Jama
- Demonstrated capability to efficiently work autonomously and with little to no supervision
- Strong written and verbal communications skills in English, knowledge of French will be considered favorably

Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the reliability status level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and ITAR.
