What we offer
The Senior Financial Analyst will be an integral member on this journey to accelerate this division’s growth and be a trusted business partner to the Land Development business. This is an exciting role responsible for supporting the annual 5-year business plan, quarterly forecasts, month-end/KPI reporting, along with driving value-added initiatives and across the business.
Mattamy is an accredited employer with the CPA Ontario. Candidates will have the opportunity to earn practical work experience while working towards their CPA designation.
What you’ll do
- Support components of the financial planning process for quarterly forecasts, annual budgeting, and the 5-year strategic plan including cash flow statement, Profit and Loss (P&L) statement and balance sheet.
- Develop bottom-up forecasts, translate these forecasts into current and future impacts on the balance sheet (financial position) and communicate how these changes affect a statement of cash flow with a focus on understanding the inputs, impacts and drivers of operating cash flow.
- Work to foster and develop strategic business partnerships with the Land Development function, including consolidating and summarizing reports on performance against business metrics and translating financial information into clear messaging and actionable insights.
- Prepare & develop business analyses, raise key insights and recommendations to support decision making and financial feasibility through profitability, capital requirements and other financial modelling.
- Drive the creation & execution of dashboards for key KPI’s for key business partners, finance and other decision makers leveraging the business analytics team
- Assist with driving GTA Land Development’s analytics journey, process evolution and efficiencies to get to insights faster and easier
- Support the review of information in reported financials and the eventual Land Development reporting package and clear articulation of variances and drivers of performance
- Identify and execute process improvement initiatives to improve the flow of information, the accuracy of information and the timeliness of information to Finance
- Support new financial planning and reporting tools / processes while partnering with the Corporate FP&A teams to ensure alignment with new initiatives
- Prepare ad hoc reports and analysis requested by Departments, Corporate Office, etc.
What you bring
- University degree in accounting or finance.
- CPA designation.
- 4+ years of progressive experience in reporting, FP&A, Business Unit / Operations Finance with direct business partner roles.
- Advanced Excel skills, financial modelling including cash flow projections.
- Experience with MS BI Technologies an asset (SQL Server, Power BI, Power Pivot, Visual Basic)
- Detail oriented & strong analytical and project management skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret internal business partners needs and decisions and their impact on financial reporting and cash flow.
- Superior organization and planning skills; ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Demonstrates the highest level of ethics and personal integrity.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
Bonus points
- CPA designation.
- Construction, High Rise residential or ICI (Industrial/Commercial/Institutional) experience.
- Experience with OneStream, JD Edwards, BuildPro, Hyperion or Essbase.
Compensation
The expected base salary range for this position is $70,000 - $110,000. Actual pay may vary depending on your job-related knowledge, competencies, and skills. We recognize that exceptional situations may fall outside of this range, and we encourage all interested applicants to apply.
