You’ll be supported through learning and development, not to mention an incredible team with unbelievable talent and integrity.
If you think you would be the right person to join our team working towards this goal, we would love to hear from you!
The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join our engineering team, supporting the development and deployment of our next-generation AI-powered cloud-based products. In this role, you will design and implement robust, scalable, and automated test solutions to ensure the reliability and performance of our cloud platform. You’ll work closely with developers, product managers, and other SDETs to design and implement robust cloud test strategies, automation frameworks, and validation tools.
The successful candidate will flourish making meaningful contributions and elegant solutions, be determined, and manage major turning points independently in a fast-paced environment.

What You Will Accomplish:

  • Define and maintain an automation roadmap aligned with team goals and product evolution;
  • Act as a subject matter expert in test strategy and tooling within your domain;
  • Design and manage automated testing suites, including CI/CD pipeline development;
  • Validate deployments across multiple cloud environments;
  • Work closely with development to improve the quality of the product.

What We Are Looking For:

  • We’re looking for someone who checks off most, but not all, of the boxes listed in “skills and experiences”. It’s more important to us to find candidates who can display indicators of success through skills they have developed and experiences they have been a part of, than to find folks who have ‘been there, done that”. We want to be part of your development journey, and we’ll learn as much from you as you learn from us.

Required Skills:

  • 5+ years of experience in Software Development in Test with a strong focus on cloud automation;
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, C#, Java);
  • Experience with test automation tools and frameworks;
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, APIs, SDKs, and system integration testing;
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and cloud-based testing environments;
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail;
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Nice to Have:

  • Familiarity with monitoring and alerting tools (e.g., Grafana, DataDog, CloudWatch);
  • Experience with BDD;
  • AWS: S3, DynamoDB, OpenSearch;
  • Exposure to security testing, performance testing, and regression strategies;
  • Docker container.

The Most Important Thing:

  • We’re looking for candidates that can provide examples of how they have demonstrated Magnet CODE in their previous experiences:
  • CARE – We care about each other and our mission to make a difference in the world.
  • OWN – We are accountable for our results – while never forgetting to act with integrity, empathy, and respect.
  • DEDICATE – We put our heart and soul into meeting the needs of our customers and helping them serve the people they protect.
  • EVOLVE – We are constantly innovating and exploring new ways to work together to make an impact with our work.

Compensation & Benefits

  • MIN: $111,300 – MID: $159,000 – MAX: $190,800 CAD

Magnet is proud to offer benefits such as:

  • Generous time off policies
  • Competitive compensation
  • Volunteer opportunities
  • Reward and recognition programs
  • Employee committees & resource groups
  • Healthcare and retirement benefits
