Your Mission:

The Director of Facilities and Events will work closely with the SVP of HR and Strategic Planning and will act as an intermediary between top management and other stakeholders on facility, office services, and event and travel matters. This position will have immediate impact to the facilities, office services, and event and travel team through performing activities such as streamlining strategic initiatives and standardizing processes across the teams. This position responds to critical issues and has oversight on and provides guidance to projects of high importance. The incumbent in this role will lead all efforts with support of the team, on the planning and coordination of logistics for meetings, large scale internal and external events, space management, office services, etc. This includes leading and managing the facilities, office services and event and travel support team. There will be significant responsibility for translating business goals and objectives into concrete strategic and tactical plans. This will require aligning priorities with business plans and strategy.

How You’ll Make an Impact:

  • Manage the facilities and related operations and events and travel for the company. This includes facility maintenance, safety and security, office services, furniture and equipment procurement and maintenance, office configuration and company internal and external event and travel planning.
  • Partners with executive leaders to provide support on planning and strategy.
  • Develops and implements standard operating procedures, programs and policies for facilities, office services and events and travel management and support staff.
  • Ensure federal, state, and local building regulations are enforced. Assist in communicating changes to the community.
  • Prioritize and coordinate building maintenance, and construction projects.
  • Oversight to the Ilitch companies’ office services process ensuring mail is managed, routed, and delivered properly; support staff are trained on system functions; act as a liaison to vendors as needed to troubleshoot and resolve high level issues; and making recommendations on process improvements
  • Works with Manager of Event and Travel to ensure projects from the pre-event planning stage and on-site execution stage, are moving efficiently and effectively, accordingly to budget.
  • Inspires events and travel team to engage on the strategy, creative approach, planning, and execution for the organization’s most significant and highest-profile corporate and operations events, including day-of-event management.
  • Oversight of company events such as company picnics/breakfasts, service awards, year-end meetings, recruiting and corporate networking events, franchise services annual meeting, town hall meetings, committee meetings, annual STRAP meeting, manager rallies, and summits.
  • Provides strategic guidance and consultation for new programs, events, and other experiences.
  • Develops approach and methods to evaluate and measure event success. Leveraging insights in the development of an annual strategy.
  • Research and presents new potential vendors and purchasing alternatives. Ensures team members are maintaining a healthy relationship with all vendors.
  • Provide leadership to facilities, office services, and events staff. Responsible for leading the support team in handling day-to-day operations with decision making capabilities, focusing on efficiency and time management. Responsible for performance management, development plans and review of work product as well as establishing and managing priorities.
  • Assisting with budgetary cycles, attending business reviews, and analyzing specific budget requests for the facilities, office services and events team.
  • Engage in special projects and other duties as assigned.

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in a progressively responsible role with in-depth experience in facility services and event planning.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in a management role demonstrating progressive experience in delivering support at an executive level, leading project teams or work groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex issues and problems, recommend and implement solutions. Displays effective leadership skills.
  • Proven ability to manage facility and event support functions economically and efficiently, organize work, establish priorities and maintain good personal relationships with staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to research and develop business cases, draw conclusions, and make sound business-oriented recommendations.
  • Evidence of ability to influence outcomes through identifying stakeholders, building relationships, and working with cross-functional teams to facilitate diverse project execution and actively monitoring projects.
  • Evidence of ability to prioritize workload and projects with the flexibility to rapidly adapt to changes.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Evidence of ability to prioritize and handle multiple complex projects and priorities.
  • Experience handling confidential and proprietary information with the appropriate level of discretion.
  • Proof of analytical and problem-solving skills developed from sound business judgment & experience.
  • Demonstrated active listening, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate to internal and external audiences.
  • Periodic “on call” work and occasional evenings/weekends may be required.
  • Knowledge of vendor and supplier sources a plus.
  • Position requires lifting and moving material up to 50 lbs.
