Your Mission
The Manager, Global Data Governance will support a broad array of business and technology stakeholders by driving the development of LCE/IHI enterprise-wide data governance in a greenfield - from strategies and companywide knowledge development to policies, standards and processes. This position will partner across the enterprises in assessing the current state and building a roadmap to drive the future state. The company is clear and committed to the “what” – enabling data driven decisioning, as well as the “why” - to make a great company even better- and is looking to the Manager, Global Data Governance to help shape the “how”. This role will build out the Data Governance function, as well as design and own decision forums with coworkers and executives alike. Additionally, this role is a member of the leadership team of the Global Data and Analytics COE.
How You’ll Make an Impact:
- Leads the establishment of a data governance approach that ensures LCE/IHI data is fit for purpose supporting operational excellence and data driven decision making.
- Drives the creation and execution of a roadmap to assess and improve data definitions all the way to the element level ensuring they are correct, consistent and clearly understood.
- Designs and monitors the performance of the organization against these agreed standards.
- Creates and leads the creation of governance forums and working groups to engage stakeholders across the business, from all levels.
- Ensures the right level of documentation is developed with and supported by the business – specifically data glossaries and process documentation across data domains.
- Leverages business knowledge and data expertise to anchor data stewardship and value for data across functions.
- Contributes to processes and groups that actively develop a fit for purpose data model ensuring that (specifically) conceptual and logical models are reflected in the data governance processes.
- Acts as a critical gearbox that ensures data standards meet the business needs and can be implemented in data tech stack for reliable operations and deep analytical insights.
- Partners actively with critical areas of the business - known and specific focus - legal (data privacy) and compliance (data security).
- Keeps current around developments and trends in data with a focus on practices that increase business engagement and knowledge growth.
- Supports and challenges other members of the Global Data and Analytics Leadership team to drive data driven decisioning.
Who you are:
- Bachelor's Degree in business, technology, engineering, or a related field.
- 5 + years’ experience directly related to the development and maintenance of data governance/data quality policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of common data quality issues as experienced by both technical and business users, and the ability to explain the impact of those issues to senior leaders.
- Capability to align partners across the business around data governance needs without reliance on reporting structure and fiat.
- Ability to move between strategy creation and day-to day execution fluidly.
- Hands-on experience in running data governance forums, building data quality processes, leveraging data profiling and exploratory data analysis.
- Technical knowledge and experience in data management, data quality and data governance.
- Experience with data classification, data labeling and data access control.
- Experience guiding the on-boarding external data.
- Experience with building flow diagrams/architecture diagrams.
- Knowledge of GDPR and Personal Information Privacy Laws.
- Experience with data governance and data quality management tools is value (no current choice in place).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
- Experience in hybrid technical environment.
- Experience creating SQL queries.
What Will Make You Stand Out:
- This position may require minimal travel to vendor locations, assessment at stores and Ilitch Companies facilities, data centers or seminars/networking.
- Requires extended periods of time sitting and talking on the phone.
- Works in a normal office environment where there is no physical discomfort due to temperature, noise, dust, and the like.
