Do you love contributing to a dynamic and fast-paced business unit in an exciting retail environment? Reporting to the Senior Category Manager you will manage and develop a portfolio of highly sought after ultra-premium wines, interact with top collectors and wine tablecloth restaurants, and find operational efficiencies to support this emerging opportunity. You will be required to provide strategic support, analysis and recommendations for the structuring, composition and planning of the portfolio. You will execute the program strategy, find opportunities to accelerate sales growth and improve overall operational efficiency through effective internal and external partnerships.

About the Role

  • Work on category merchandising activities that are consistent with long-term corporate strategy e.g., special events, customer outreach programs etc.
  • Lead the day-to-day purchasing, and commercialization activities for premium and gifting products.
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with suppliers, agents, customers and other internal stakeholders like Marketing, Retail, and Supply Chain.
  • Meet with Trade representatives to review product portfolios, identify new product and growth opportunities, and evaluate merchandising initiatives on an ongoing basis.
  • Conduct regular category analysis and visit stores to evaluate and propose assortment.
  • Build and maintain relationships with premium customers, collectors, restaurants, and corporate clients.
  • Maintain a database of client preferences.
  • Monitor industry trends, emerging regions, and vintage reports.
  • Design and implement seasonal and year-round gifting campaigns.
  • Negotiate with suppliers for exclusive gifting bundles, packaging, and value-adds etc.
  • Introduce custom packaging, engraving, calligraphy, and branded experiences.
  • Collaborate with marketing and merchandising teams to align gifting initiatives.

About You

  • Leadership skills and/or supervisory experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal and negotiating skills are also essential.
  • Proven analytical & decision-making abilities.
  • Established experience using information technology on diverse and dynamic applications.
  • Completion of the WSET level 4 or equivalent is preferred.
  • Extensive understanding of the premium wine business including top suppliers, trends and business structures.
  • 3–5 years of experience in beverage alcohol, hospitality, or luxury gifting.
  • Experience in client services, merchandising, or event planning an asset.
