A Business Product Owner (BPO) operates across different business units as an SME for that business unit / area. The Business Product Owner (BPO) collaborates closely with the IT Product Owner in a two-in-a-box model by actively participating throughout the development process to identify optimal solutions that minimize unnecessary customization and complexity.
The BPO defines the product vision and develops a strategically aligned roadmap to guide development efforts. They prioritize the team backlog to focus on high-value features and improvements, fostering efficient resource utilization and timely delivery. In addition, they manage stakeholder relationships, effectively communicating to identify and resolve conflicting requirements and promoting a collaborative organizational environment.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Compliance and Financial Technology, as Senior Manager you will be the BPO in the Finance team and have the following responsibilities.
About the Role
- Develop a clear and compelling product vision that aligns with organizational strategies, market trends and customer needs, guiding the direction of product development.
- Keep the product vision and roadmap updated based on stakeholder feedback and changes in the market landscape to keep the product relevant and competitive.
- Create a strategically aligned roadmap that outlines key milestones, features and enhancements, ensuring all stakeholders understand the product direction and its alignment with business objectives.
- Serve as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams, clearly articulating requirements and addressing any challenges that arise during development.
- Collaborate actively with Platform Teams to ensure that technical execution aligns with defined product vision, actively participating in design and development discussions.
- Coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities with business stakeholders, ensuring that testing processes are effectively executed and that results meet defined acceptance criteria.
- Prepare UAT reports summarising findings, recommendations and key user feedback to present to stakeholders and the IT Product Owner.
- Establish a feedback loop with end-users and stakeholders to continuously assess product performance and solicit input for future enhancements.
- Collaborate closely with IT Product Owners and business stakeholders to prioritize the team backlog effectively, ensuring high-impact features and business-critical updates receive appropriate focus.
- Develop a structured prioritization framework that considers business value, urgency, and resource availability, guiding the team in making informed decisions about backlog items.
- Maintain clear and timely communication with stakeholders regarding product vision, updates, and any changes to priorities, fostering trust and collaboration.
About You
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Information Technology (IT) or a related field. Master’s degree or equivalent experience in a relevant domain i.e., Finance product / systems is a plus.
- Candidates with any one of these certifications will be preferred. In order of preference, Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO), Advanced Certified Scrum Product Owner (ACSPO), PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) and Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO).
- 5-8 years of advanced skills / expertise in product management, business analysis and solution design to translate business needs into technical requirements.
- 5+ years of exposure to various aspects of product development and IT governance, providing a comprehensive understanding of how product strategies impact organizational objectives.
- Knowledge about emerging technologies, methodologies and industry trends that can inform product development and enhance overall business performance.
- Good analytical, presentation, communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication, both oral and written.
- Excellent time management, attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office, project management software, Visio and any Agile tools and techniques.
