Secondment/Contract Duration: Up to 12 Months
Reporting to the Manager, Strategy, Innovation and Enterprise Analytics, the Senior Strategy Analyst will be responsible for supporting the annual strategic planning cycle, conducting research, analyzing complex qualitative and quantitative data, and creating content to drive clear recommendations and support enterprise-wide decision-making. You will be a thought leader who contributes to supporting a culture of strategic thinking and analytical excellence across the business. This role will share insights and coordinate communications and alignment with stakeholders to drive effective actions.
About the Role
Strategy Development and Operational Road mapping:
- Apply strategic and big picture thinking to identify and story tell business challenges and opportunities, as an input to support strategic business decisions.
- Conduct in-depth market research to identify industry trends, customer preferences, and global retail landscapes as a key input into the development of the 3-year Strategy.
- Work with Divisional Leaders to build the Operational Roadmap for their Divisions that support the annual Strategic Plan and achieve the Divisional Objectives and Key Results (OKR’s) that track and evaluate the performance of short- and long-term goals and propose improvements.
- Work with Corporate Strategy leadership and the Executive Leadership Team to establish ongoing strategic planning timelines, cadence, and check-in points.
- Assist in developing and implementing a comprehensive reporting strategy and framework to track progress on strategic initiatives.
Strategic business advisory and support:
- Conduct frequent research and analysis of the retail industry, beverage, and alcohol sector, economic, consumer trends, and competition to inform the strategic decisions of LCBO.
- Coordinate with teams to provide analytical support related to the strategy formulation and tracking of long-range plans for enterprise-wide measures that increase cross-channel profitability, network optimization, customer satisfaction, and other specific divisional goals.
- Apply analytical and technical capabilities to support multiple program plans by providing deep-dives into pain points of specific divisional and enterprise-wide business problems.
- Leverage and support ad hoc requests from partners and projects to help uncover issues and find solutions.
- Use data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) and narrative story telling abilities to present applicable findings to leaders within LCBO.
Corporate Portfolio Management:
- Help coordinate an enterprise-wide project intake process and portfolio/project governance framework to guide how the LCBO evaluates, prioritizes and report main projects across divisions.
- Support the ongoing refinement of Project Intake Strategic Assessment framework to help the LCBO achieve its 3-year goals and strategic roadmap of investments.
Enterprise Communication and Collaboration:
- Prepare and deliver presentations to communicate recommendations to several audiences, including senior leadership and the Board of Directors
- Collaborate with teams, including Finance, IT, Merchandising and other departments.
About You
- Bachelor’s degree or higher diploma in Business, Economics, Finance, or related field.
- 3+ years of progressive experience in management consulting, investment banking, corporate strategy, or similar roles.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Proficient in MS Office programs (Power Point, Excel, Outlook, and Word).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to deliver data driven insights.
- Proficiency in Power BI is a plus.
- Ability to think strategically and navigate complex issues.
- Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to effectively collaborate, influence and resolve conflicts.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
