Associate Manager, Quality Assurance – Secondment/ Contract: Up to 8 Months

Reporting to the Senior Manager Quality Services (QS), you will support the QS business with the implementation of regulatory changes governing labelling of beverage alcohol, food safety, product traceability and recall. You will identify and document process, and user/system requirements for future process and system enhancements/upgrades and implementation. You will develop and implement statistical/analytical reports to monitor Quality Services business and identify trends to assist in process improvement.

About the Role
Ensure product compliance with regulatory requirements and the LCBO’s Product Packaging Standards for beverage alcohol composition, packaging/labelling
Collect, analyze, and interpret technical data related to regulatory standards and ensure that deficiencies are documented and investigated
Collaborate with vendors and internal clients to inform them of quality-related challenges, provide technical assistance and negotiate resolutions
Support effective product quality investigations to identify, isolate and dispose of defective/unsaleable inventories at retail and warehouse levels
Support the Quality Assurance business functions with the resolution of packaging and labelling issues
Lead development and support of QA software tools for tracking and reporting of department KPIs.
Lead packaging development, analysis and testing of packaging materials and inform updates to the packaging standards where required
Lead and coach staff, in the absence of the Senior Manager, to ensure effective operations that support departmental objectives
Collaborate with internal and external teams and clients to make recommendations for business development and drive continuous improvement
About You
Bachelors’ Degree in the fields of chemistry/ biochemistry/ chemical engineering or equivalent, with relevant knowledge and/or experience in analytical testing, sensory science, statistical analysis, beverage alcohol manufacturing and beverage alcohol compositional and packaging/labelling regulations.
3 - 5 years of experience in a large retail and distribution environment, preferably in the food and beverage industry and focused on a Regulatory Compliance or Packaging Role
Strong working knowledge of federal and provincial regulations governing compositional standards, food safety, manufacturing practices and packaging/labeling requirements for beverage alcohol products
Demonstrated practical knowledge of the manufacturing /production processes for beverage alcohol
Exposure to managing quality in a complex, ISO supply chain environment
Proven ability to motivate and lead a team to deliver results with effective written and verbal communication skills
Excellent knowledge of computer software, hardware and network applications to conduct analysis, develop reports, solve problems and recommend business solutions
Demonstrated customer centricity and proven record for collaborating with diverse teams, internally and externally
Strong ability to multitask and prioritize to produce quality results in a fast-paced environment
Deep process management skills to evaluate systems, recommend improvements, create process flow maps, and write effective Standard Operating Procedures
