Job Posting Description:

This is a hybrid role #LI-Hybrid

Reporting to the Vice President, Business Partnership & Labour Relations, the Senior Director, Labour & Employee Relations is accountable for leading the Centre for Expertise for labour relations, employee relations, and workplace investigations. This includes enabling business objectives, aligning to organization values and culture, meeting legal and collective agreement obligations, and achieving constructive labour relations with LCBO union partners. You will lead a team of professionals who partner and act as key points of contact with business leaders, HR colleagues, external stakeholders, and the Union.

About the Role

  • Accountable for establishing a framework that enables constructive labour relations between the LCBO and the Union at the organizational, business, and local levels.
  • Achieving business objectives through labour and employee relation frameworks.
  • Leading a team of professionals to provide subject matter expertise at the organizational, business, and local level in a complex environment.
  • Act as the single source of truth on the interpretation of the collective agreement.
  • Provide expert advice to HR colleagues, clients, stakeholders, and senior leaders.
  • Lead the Centre of Expertise in the development, monitoring, and reporting of relevant KPIs.
  • Lead the development of corporate labour relations, employee relations, and workplace investigation strategies in partnership with diverse stakeholders.
  • Lead LCBO’s collective bargaining strategy, and partner to integrate bargaining, communications, and continuity strategies.
  • Provide leadership and oversight to the Employee Relations, Workplace Investigations and Labour Relations team, empowering them to be subject matter and strategic experts who advise and position client leaders to achieve business objectives.

About You

  • Degree in HR, Labour Relations, Business, Organizational Development, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in labour relations in a highly unionized environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of labour relations, related employment legislation, and best practices.
  • Demonstrated track record of effective negotiating skills in complex environments.
  • Grievance and arbitration management experience.
  • Experience leading collective bargaining, as well as extensive collective agreement interpretation, administration and advising experience.
  • Passion for delivering exceptional service every day, leading by example, and inspiring others.
  • An ability to manage through ambiguity, work collaboratively in a team environment, and have fun while working smart.
