Key Responsibilities:
1. Collaboration with Marketing Team:
- Our lead generation strategy is a combination of inbound and outbound initiatives. Our marketing team executes multiple lead generation programs for our various accelerator programs.
- We are looking for someone to work closely with our marketing team and compliment these efforts with effective outbound lead generation activity as well as manage the MQL’s.
- Support the creation of pitch decks, success stories, and promotional content that showcases L-SPARK’s impact and attracts new participants.
2. Startup Recruitment & Engagement:
- Source, engage, and recruit high-potential startups for participation in L-SPARK’s accelerator programs.
- Establish relationships with key startup founders, innovators, and other ecosystem players to create a consistent pipeline of quality applicants.
- Evaluate and assess potential startup candidates based on coachability, business maturity, market opportunity, product potential, and fit with L-SPARK’s offerings.
3. Productive Working Relationship with Investors:
- Engage with venture capital firms, angel investors, and corporate investors to create funding opportunities for L-SPARK startups.
- Engage in Deal Flow Meetings with selected investors to build a trusted 2-way flow of companies to identify and help develop.
- Participate in L-SPARK organized investor pitch events that connect investors with our high-potential cohort and alumni startups
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of investor priorities and trends in the early-stage investment market to better align L-SPARK’s offerings.
4. Market Research & Strategic Planning:
- Conduct research to identify emerging trends, industries, and technologies within the startup ecosystem that are aligned with L-SPARK’s focus.
- Analyze industry data, competitor programs, and market shifts to refine L-SPARK’s business development strategy and identify new growth opportunities.
5. Brand Advocacy & Community Building:
- Act as a key representative of L-SPARK at major industry conferences, meetups, and networking events.
- Promote L-SPARK’s brand, programs, and success stories through speaking engagements, panels, and other public-facing opportunities.
- Foster a strong sense of community by maintaining relationships with L-SPARK alumni, mentors, and key partners.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in either: Computer Science; Business or Entrepreneurship
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in business development, sales, or partner management, with a strong focus on software, technology, or venture capital sectors.
- Startup Ecosystem Knowledge: Strong understanding of software business models, the venture capital landscape, and startup accelerator programs.
- Hunter Mentality: Proven ability to source and recruit high-potential opportunities.
Skills:
- Productivity: Proficient in CRM, Zoom, MS Teams, Google, and have a favourite GTD
- Personality: Inquisitive and Passionate about software…your world is the start-up world.
- Driven: to help founders accelerate and be a meaningful part of the growing Canadian ecosystem.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communications as well as relationship building skills, to the level where entrepreneurs will say they wish their employees were just like you!
