What We're Looking For

We are seeking a full-time Business Development Director to spearhead our Uncrewed Aerial Systems (UAS) business. Your role will involve leading new business development efforts within the UAS market, focusing on the strategic application of Kongsberg Geospatial's software solutions, products, and services.

The ideal candidate should have substantial experience with Situational Awareness, Electronic Observer or UTM software, with a proven track record of forging relationships and securing sales in both the Commercial UAS Industry and the Government & Public Sector. We are particularly interested in candidates who can leverage and extend an extensive network of contacts to drive results. Your primary goal will be to grow Kongsberg Geospatial’s presence in the UAS market internationally, building a pipeline of high quality, high potential opportunities while navigating the complex landscape of UAS regulatory enablement. As the market matures, focus will shift to meeting and exceeding ambitious sales targets set collaboratively on an annual basis.

Duties include

· Sales Lifecycle Management: Manage prospects, leads, and deals throughout the entire sales lifecycle, from initial contact through to final delivery, ensuring all regulatory requirements are met and client expectations are exceeded.
· Balance Business and Technical Acumen: Evaluate new technologies and work alongside the UAS Product Manager to guide the product development of our UAS software, ensuring compliance with current and emerging regulatory standards.
· Lead Relationship Development: Forge strategic partnerships with entities providing essential components, technologies, and intellectual property critical to force multiplying UAS software in the broader ecosystem and with a focus on regulatory compliance.
· Competitive Differentiation: Champion the development of unique selling points for both existing and new UAS software products by leveraging competitive analysis, technical research, and understanding of regulatory environments and market competitors.
· Interdepartmental Coordination: Work closely with various teams at Kongsberg Geospatial to meet partnership requirements. This includes setting up business development meetings related to UAS regulatory frameworks, documenting discussions, action items, and ensuring follow-through with designated resources.
· Strategic Opportunity Identification: Research, assess, and pinpoint opportunities for strategic partnerships within the UAS sector, particularly those that enhance regulatory compliance.
· Industry Representation: Act as the face of Kongsberg Geospatial in dealings with industry partners, peer groups, and regulatory bodies to promote our UAS software solutions and influence regulatory policies beneficial to our business.
· Tradeshow Representation: Represent Kongsberg Geospatial at booths during leading UAS tradeshows, engaging with potential clients, partners, and regulators to showcase our software solutions and discuss regulatory compliance and enablement.
· Marketing Integration: Gather and integrate key messages about new UAS software features into marketing strategies, emphasizing compliance and regulatory advantages.
· Product Roadmap Development: Assist Director of Product in creating and updating product roadmaps, ensuring they align with regulatory demands and market needs.
· Project Evaluation: Participate in the evaluation of proposed and ongoing UAS projects or programs, focusing on regulatory compliance and strategic fit.
· Vision and Strategy Contribution: Contribute to shaping and refining Kongsberg Geospatial's vision and strategy, with a focus on leading in UAS software solutions that navigate complex regulatory landscapes effectively for the benefit of or clients.

You Have

· NATO Secret security clearance or the eligibility to obtain one
· Engineering or Technical Degree or equivalent competency and experience
· Minimum of 5 years of relevant sales experience
· Minimum of 3 years of experience in a leadership role
· Military experience preferred: Experience preferred in Command and Control, and/or Air Battle Management, and/or Unmanned systems.
· Business Acumen: Understands the intricacies of the UAS industry, including current and forecasted regulatory environments, market trends, and technological advancements. Possesses comprehensive knowledge of competitors and how strategic maneuvers affect marketplace dynamics within the UAS sector.
· Strategic Agility: Demonstrates foresight in anticipating regulatory changes and technology evolution in UAS; maintains abroad perspective on industry possibilities; can craft compelling, forward-looking visions and strategies that leverage regulatory compliance as a competitive advantage.
· Negotiating: Skilled at conducting negotiations in complex commercial environments, securing advantageous terms without compromising relationships. Can balance assertiveness with diplomacy to navigate through agreements involving UAS software and regulatory compliance.
· Regulatory and Government Savvy: Navigates the political landscape associated with UAS regulations adeptly; understands governmental processes and can anticipate regulatory shifts to strategically position Kongsberg Geospatial. Sensitive to organizational dynamics and political under currents that affect UAS policy and business in the USA, Canada and beyond.
· Presentation Skills: Excels in presenting UAS software capabilities and regulatory compliance strategies across various platforms, from intimate meetings to large industry conferences. Captures audience attention whether discussing technical data or navigating controversial regulatory topics and adeptly adjusts presentation style as needed.

· Written Communications: Communicates effectively in writing about UAS technology and regulatory matters. Produces clear, concise, and impactful documents, emails, and proposals that resonate with stakeholders, ensuring that the message not only informs but also influences regulatory and business decisions.
