Responsibilities
Role Summary
The IC Fab Supervisor-Night Shift is a front-line operations leader responsible for safe, disciplined, and efficient execution of IC fabrication on their assigned shift. This role owns shop-floor control, operator performance, pass-down quality, and real-time problem solving to meet production, quality, and turn-around time (TAT) commitments.
The Supervisor is accountable for translating Fab Ops priorities into clear daily execution, enforcing standard work, and developing operators through structured training and coaching. Success in this role is measured by stable operations, predictable output, strong shift handoffs, and a highly engaged team.
Shift Schedule
* This position is assigned to D Shift (back-half night shift).
The IC Fab operates on a four-shift (A/B/C/D) compressed workweek schedule to support continuous 24/7 operations.
Each shift is 12 hours in duration
A and B Shifts: Day shifts with a 9:00 AM start time.
C and D Shifts: Night shifts with a 9:00 PM start time.
Front-half schedule: A and C Shifts
Back-half schedule: B and D Shifts
Shifts alternate every Thursday.
Key Responsibilities
1. Shift Operations & Execution
Own end-to-end execution of production on assigned shift, ensuring run-plan adherence, disciplined work selection, and clean shift handoffs.
Actively manage WIP flow, tool queues, and lot prioritization to minimize delays, aging WIP, and stuck lots.
Ensure all operator processing instructions are executed strictly per Thinksheet/MES, with no off-system or informal direction.
Identify issues early (tool downtime, staffing gaps, material constraints) and escalate promptly to protect TAT and schedule.
2. Safety, Quality & Process Discipline
Lead with a safety-first mindset; enforce PPE, bay safety rules, and safe behaviors at all times.
Maintain process discipline by ensuring operators follow documented procedures and approved instructions.
Drive reduction in behavioral rejects (BRs) through coaching, observation, and reinforcement of standard work.
Ensure quality issues are surfaced immediately and corrective actions are initiated per fab quality systems.
3. People Leadership & Operator Development
Provide direct leadership to operators on shift: set expectations, coach performance, and address gaps in real time.
Own execution of the IC Fab training process on shift, including onboarding, cross-training, and backup coverage.
Ensure training is checklist-driven, tracked, and progressed to proficiency and certification per fab standards.
Partner with Fab Ops Manager on performance feedback, development plans, and recognition.
4. Daily Management & Communication
Conduct effective start-of-shift and end-of-shift pass-downs with clear priorities, risks, and follow-ups.
Maintain accurate MES entries, pass-down notes, and shift documentation to enable continuity across shifts.
Serve as the single point of contact for shift-level coordination with Engineering, Maintenance, and Planning.
Reinforce communication protocols (Thinksheet vs. email vs. escalation paths).
5. Continuous Improvement & Accountability
Use daily KPIs (moves, WIP health, downtime, BRs) to identify trends and take corrective action.
Participate in Kaizen events and improvement initiatives focused on throughput, quality, and standardization.
Eliminate non-standard practices that increase risk, rejects, or variability.
Hold operators and partners accountable while fostering a culture of respect, ownership, and teamwork.
What Success Looks Like in This Role
Predictable shift execution with clean pass-downs and minimal surprises.
Operators clearly understand what to run, how to run it, and why it matters.
Training progresses steadily with improved backup and cross-coverage.
Issues are surfaced early, escalated appropriately, and closed with learning.
