About the Team

The Precision Meso-scale Technology Center (PMTC) is a collaborative team of engineers, technicians, and manufacturing specialists. We combine traditional and advanced technologies to develop extremely high-precision mechanical components that power Keysight’s industry-leading electronic measurement equipment.


Responsibilities

About the Role

We are seeking a Plating Process Engineer to support and advance PMTC’s precision plating operations. This role is responsible for the design, development, optimization, and sustainment of plating processes used in high‑reliability, high‑precision components.

In this role, you will work closely with product engineers, operations, quality, and suppliers to support production, enable new product introductions, and drive continuous improvement across quality, cost, yield, and throughput.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and optimize precision plating processes, including equipment selection, tooling, fixtures, and process parameters
  • Create and maintain process specifications, manufacturing routings, work instructions, and supporting documentation
  • Define and control critical process parameters
  • Estimate cycle times, labor requirements, and process costs
  • Support new product introduction through process validation, pre‑production, and production ramp activities
  • Investigate product defects and manufacturing issues; perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions
  • Review, analyze, and approve process deviations in accordance with quality control procedures
  • Work directly with Product Engineers on design for manufacturability and design for plating considerations
  • Lead and participate in cross‑functional projects, serving as the plating subject‑matter expert
  • Create, maintain, and optimize chemical tanks and plating baths in compliance with internal safety standards and external regulations
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, yield, cost reduction, and process robustness

Qualifications

You are a technically strong, hands‑on engineer who thrives in a manufacturing environment. You combine deep process knowledge with practical problem‑solving skills and can effectively balance technical rigor, production needs, and business objectives. You communicate clearly, work well across disciplines, and take ownership of process performance.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field
  • 6+ years of progressive experience in process engineering
  • Demonstrated experience with metal finishing processes
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Precious metals and electroless plating experience
  • Functional electronics experience
  • Experience in precision manufacturing or high‑reliability components
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and specifications
  • Project management experience, including leading cross‑functional initiatives
  • Experience with wastewater treatment and environmental compliance in metal finishing operations

California pay range: MIN $138,960.00, MIDPOINT $185,280.00 - MAX $231,600.00
