Keysight is hiring an expert-level Application Engineer with deep 3GPP LTE/NR protocol expertise to help customers modernize and scale their wireless validation workflows. In this role, you will partner closely with customer engineering teams to understand how they validate and release features today—then propose and implement solution approaches using Keysight’s portfolio to improve coverage, repeatability, and time-to-insight.

You will operate at the intersection of standards knowledge, real-world protocol implementations, and test workflow design—translating technical goals into practical validation architectures, automation-ready execution models, and clear technical recommendations.

Responsibilities
  • Lead discovery with customer engineering teams to map end-to-end protocol validation workflows: objectives, artifacts, gating criteria, toolchain integration points, and pain points.
  • Translate customer goals into solution proposals using Keysight capabilities (test strategy, configuration approach, automation architecture, reporting/KPI frameworks, and scaling model).
  • Define success metrics and acceptance criteria that align with customer release processes (coverage targets, regression time, reproducibility, traceability).
  • Design and deliver customer-facing technical assets including PoCs, demos, workshops, and enablement sessions tailored to real engineering workflows—not generic feature tours.
  • Produce reusable packages (templates, reference configurations, automation starters, reporting baselines) that accelerate adoption and reduce rework across teams and sites.
  • Guide customers on standards-driven validation coverage for LTE & NR across key feature areas (e.g., SA procedures, mobility, RRM behaviors, feature interactions across releases), with strong grounding in protocol layering and call flows.
  • Recommend efficient execution models (smoke → nightly → full regression), including what to run, when to run it, and how to interpret results consistently across releases.
  • Collaborate with Keysight product and R&D teams to turn field learnings into portfolio improvements (diagnostic usability, coverage, workflow integration).

Technical focus areas

  • LTE/NR procedures and call flows with strong L2/L3 grounding (RRC/PDCP/RLC/MAC concepts and interactions).
  • Validation workflow design: coverage planning, regression strategy, execution scaling, and evidence-quality reporting.
  • Trace/log interpretation and KPI/counter reasoning to support decision-making and workflow tuning (e.g., establishing baselines, defining pass/fail signals).
  • Automation and reproducible execution (often Python-based), including integration into customer toolchains.

Qualifications
  • Deep hands-on expertise in 3GPP LTE and/or NR with the ability to reason across procedures, releases, and real-system behavior.
  • Proven experience in external-facing technical roles (application engineering, systems/integration, validation leadership, or senior R&D with customer/partner ownership).
  • Strong capability to structure ambiguous requirements into a practical workflow and solution plan (test strategy + execution model + evidence/reporting).
  • Practical software development skills (typically Python) to build automation, templates, and reusable tooling.
  • Comfortable working in Windows and Linux-based environments.
  • Strong technical communication in English and local language; able to lead workshops and align stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with structured validation workflows (conformance-like approaches, interoperability validation, certification-oriented gating).
  • Familiarity with multi-vendor integration and modern RAN architectures.
  • Experience collaborating across globally distributed engineering teams.
  • Exposure to 3GPP standards work, or strong experience implementing/validating features directly from evolving specs.
