Keysight is seeking an Expert level R&D Engineer / Technical Lead to create custom solutions, proof-of-concepts (PoCs), and reference implementations that accelerate next-generation 5G/6G RF and mmWave In this role, you will collaborate closely with a Tier-1 global wireless infrastructure organization to translate early technical needs into validated prototypes, repeatable measurement flows, and data-driven recommendations that influence architecture and roadmap.

You will operate at the intersection of RF hardware, wireless PHY awareness, measurement science, and software automation, delivering end-to-end prototypes from concept to demonstrable results.

Responsibilities
  • Design and deliver PoCs / custom solutions for advanced RF/mmWave wireless applications (e.g., beamforming validation, linearization workflows, synchronized multi-instrument measurements, OTA characterization, KPI extraction and correlation).
  • Build end-to-end reference implementations spanning signal generation, DUT control, acquisition, analysis, and reporting—optimized for repeatability and transferability across labs and teams.
  • Develop novel measurement methods for complex RF/PHY behavior (EVM/ACLR trade-offs, phase noise contributors, spurious mechanisms, receiver blocking/desense, array/beamformed system effects).
  • Define success metrics, acceptance criteria, and validation gates so PoC results can be used for decision-making and downstream integration.
  • Create robust automation and tooling in Python/MATLAB/C/C++/C# for instrument orchestration, calibration control, waveform/config generation, data reduction, and regression workflows.
  • Package deliverables into reusable assets (libraries, validated configurations, setup guides, technical notes) that accelerate future prototype development.
  • Lead technical working sessions and design reviews with partner and internal stakeholders; communicate results clearly and recommend next steps based on evidence.

Qualifications
  • BSc/MSc (or higher) in Electrical Engineering, Wireless Communications, RF/mmWave, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong hands-on background in RF/mmWave measurement and validation using common instrumentation (e.g., VSA/VSG/VNA) and complex setups (including synchronization and calibration practices).
  • Demonstrated experience building PoCs, prototypes, or reference solutions that combine hardware understanding with software automation and rigorous analysis.
  • Solid programming skills for lab automation and data analysis (Python/MATLAB/C/C++/C#).
  • Ability to lead ambiguous technical work independently, align cross-functional teams, and deliver outcomes with clear documentation.
