Overview

Keysight is at the forefront of technology innovation, delivering breakthroughs and trusted insights in electronic design, simulation, prototyping, test, manufacturing, and optimization. Our ~15,000 employees create world-class solutions in communications, 5G, automotive, energy, quantum, aerospace, defense, and semiconductor markets for customers in over 100 countries. Learn more about what we do.

Our award-winning culture embraces a bold vision of where technology can take us and a passion for tackling challenging problems with industry-first solutions. We believe that when people feel a sense of belonging, they can be more creative, innovative, and thrive at all points in their careers.

As a Hardware Engineer in our Aerospace and Defense Custom Solutions (ADCS) group, you will work as part of a highly talented and passionate multi-discipline team that develops and delivers world-class custom test solutions.

ADCS Edinburgh exists primarily to serve European customers. We operate as part of a worldwide team with headquarters in Loveland, Colorado. We work with customers on a wide variety of technologies primarily in the Radar, Electronic Warfare, and Satellite domains.

Responsibilities

You are a motivated and curious undergraduate currently in your penultimate year of study in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related hardware‑focused discipline. You have a strong foundation in digital electronics, analogue/RF concepts, PCB‑level design, and hardware debugging, and you’re eager to apply these skills to real‑world, mission‑critical aerospace and defense challenges.

You enjoy solving complex technical problems and understanding how hardware behaves within embedded, RF, and automated test systems. Whether probing a high‑speed digital interface, diagnosing signal‑integrity issues, characterising RF paths, or supporting hardware bring‑up, you bring a hands‑on, analytical mindset to everything you do.

You thrive in a multidisciplinary engineering environment, collaborating with experts in software, electronics, RF interfacing and measurements, mechanical systems, and system architecture. You communicate clearly, ask thoughtful questions, and take ownership of your work.

Most importantly, you are excited by the opportunity to contribute to the work our team does, gaining hands‑on industry experience while supporting real customer programs and learning how high‑performance custom test systems are built, tested, and delivered.

Due to the sensitive nature of our work, UK security clearance at SC level is required. Applicants must have lived in the UK for at least 5 years. You should also have Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) or settled status.

Qualifications

You are comfortable working with lab equipment and modern engineering workflows, and you are keen to deepen your skills in areas such as:

  • Digital and analogue circuit design and debugging
  • FPGA/SoC fundamentals and hardware bring‑up
  • RF measurement techniques and use of lab instrumentation (oscilloscopes, VNAs, spectrum analysers, logic analysers)
  • PCB test, validation, and fault‑finding
  • Hardware-software integration, test automation, or system verification
  • Schematic/PCB tools and version control (e.g., Git)

You must be able to complete a minimum 6-month industrial internship, starting in summer of 2026.
