Role Overview
The Senior Integration Engineer at the Precision Meso-scale Technology Center (PMTC) leads mechanical and product design initiatives that bridge R&D and manufacturing, enabling the development of world-class electronic measurement equipment. This role thrives in a multidisciplinary environment, driving innovation and collaboration across teams to solve complex mechanical manufacturing challenges.
Key Responsibilities
Lead investigations into emerging manufacturing technologies (e.g., Turning, Milling, Wire EDM, Chemical Milling, Electroplating, Solder Assembly, Plastic Molding).
Develop and optimize processes, products, and tooling for complex mechanical assemblies.
Provide design-for-manufacturability input to R&D and NPI partners.
Collaborate on technology roadmaps and future capability planning.
Work with NPI project teams as a mechanical designer for manufacturability of components or modules.
Solve high-impact design and development challenges across cross-functional teams.
Support production release and sustainment of mechanical solutions.
Contribute to Light Lifecycle (LLC) processes and prototype build oversight.
Facilitate the release and support of production for new designs.
Understand and anticipate future internal customer needs, investigating new technologies to ensure PMTC remains at the forefront of mechanical solutions.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
8+ years of experience in manufacturing and/or product development engineering (or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience).
Expertise in precision fabrication technologies and manufacturing principles.
Familiarity with RF, microwave, and mm-wave applications is a plus.
Familiarity with Swiss-style turning and other advanced turning processes is a plus.
Ability to develop business and technical strategies.
Strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize day-to-day activities, balancing immediate needs with long-term project goals.
Strategic mindset with a hands-on approach.
This role requires specialized depth and breadth of expertise and is not a natural progression from Advanced/Senior level.
