As an R&D RF/Microwave Design Engineer at Keysight, you'll be part of a collaborative and inclusive environment located primarily in Santa Rosa, CA. Our team, housed within Keysight Laboratories, is dedicated to shaping the future of technology. By joining us, you'll play a pivotal role as part of a team creating, validating, and implementing next-generation solutions including microwave/mm-wave solutions, frequency synthesis, high-performance digital baseband and ASIC validation to set Keysight products apart from the competition.
You'll work on pioneering projects, driving advancements in low-phase-noise references, analog and digital phase-lock-loop structures, and Keysight’s next-generation microwave/mm-wave solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Design
- Development of subsystems from general concept to a shipping product in a team environment.
- Help to specify new product functional requirements as needed.
- RF/uW/mm-Wave design including phase lock loop, analog, bias, and hardware for diagnostics.
- Design, simulation, and analysis of supporting circuitry, such as control elements, digital Interfaces and power supplies.
- Collaborate with mechanical, digital, firmware, software, production engineers and others.
- Includes the following design stages.
- Work with partners to define requirements and investigate new ideas/concepts as needed
- Block Diagram Creation and Component Selection
- Circuit Simulation and Analysis
- Schematic Capture & Layout
Design Validation
- Lab Bench Turn-on and Testing, Tuning, and Modification in collaboration with Mechanical, FPGA, Firmware and Software Engineers.
- May include design validation of large custom ASICs and other ICs
- Design and Test Documentation and Handoff
Qualifications
Required Skills
- Educational Background: BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
- Technical Expertise: Strong proficiency in analog, RF, and/or microwave circuit design, with a solid understanding of analog control loops.
- Can solve complex, high impact design/ development problems
- Design Proficiency: Demonstrated expertise in designing printed circuit assemblies and advanced microwave structures.
- Simulation Skills: Experience with microwave circuit simulation, leveraging tools to drive innovation.
- Analytical Skills: Self-motivated with excellent analytical skills, capable of tackling complex problems.
- Team Player: Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative spirit.
- Adaptability: Must be flexible, adaptable, and eager to push technical boundaries.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, essential for effective collaboration.
- Can reduce broad concepts, business strategies into structured projects
- Ability to deal with uncertainty in requirements from product partners and drive to alignment.
- Advanced in the use of electronic test and measurement equipment
Additional Desired Skills:
- Simulation Tools: Experience with ADS or equivalent simulation tools, enhancing design capabilities.
- 3D EM Simulation: Proficiency in 3D EM simulation, adding depth to design approaches.
- PLL Structures: Knowledge of PLL structures, contributing to the advancement of our projects.
- Test Equipment Experience: Familiarity with electronic test and measurement equipment, especially RF equipment, advantageous.
Pay Range:
USD $122,040.00 - USD $203,400.00 Year
