Responsibilities
The IC Product Engineering group acts as a vital link between the design, process, and test teams, and the product line and customers. We ensure that high-quality ICs are delivered to our customers and that our product lines remain operational and efficient. The primary responsibilities of an IC Product Engineer include:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, process, and test engineering to ensure product yield, performance, and reliability
- Support IC platforms through electrical and reliability test and visual inspection
- Conduct failure analysis and implement corrective actions to improve product quality
- Support the transition of new products from development to production
- Analyze and interpret test data to identify trends and drive continuous improvement
- Provide technical support to customers and address any product-related issues
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends and advancements in IC technology
A day in the life of an IC Product Engineer
A day in the life of an IC Product Engineer may begin by addressing a low IC test yield. You’ll start by analyzing the test data to pinpoint the root cause and quickly resolve any test-related issues. Later in the day, you might respond to a customer request regarding a line or field failure, performing root cause analysis to identify and resolve the problem. Providing technical support to customers and addressing their concerns is a key part of your role. Each day is dynamic and challenging, offering opportunities to apply your technical expertise, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and drive continuous improvement and innovation in IC technology. A successful engineer in this job is highly motivated, possesses a strong sense of ownership, and consistently drives progress to effectively resolve problems.
