Project objectives will include MBE epitaxial growth, qualification, design, and optimization as well as MBE tool ownership. The Epitaxial Growth Engineer will be responsible for the development of new epitaxial designs for high-frequency compound semiconductor technologies and the transfer and maintenance of new technologies into manufacturing. The work contributes meaningfully to the manufacture of the compound semiconductor IC’s driving Keysight’s multi-billion-dollar electronic test and measurement business. This is a hands-on engineering role bridging technology and device engineering.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Define, implement, and execute MBE structures for microwave and mmWave applications
• Characterize semiconductor material properties through techniques such as XRD, SEM, Hall-effect measurements and others to grow material with crystal quality and low defectivity needed for high-frequency device applications
• Calibrate and qualify MBE equipment to maintain growth capabilities
• Collaborate with external partners to design and qualify new epitaxial structures

• M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent experience
• 8+ years of proven experience with MBE growth is required
• Specific skills in III-V device physics and processing are highly desirable
• Knowledge of transistors (HBT, HEMT) is desired
• Experience with statistical process control (SPC) and design of experiments (DOE) is desired
• Candidates must have strong problem-solving and analytical skills as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills for successful inter and intra-group interactions.
• Strong accountability, self-initiative and proactive attitude are required
