Position Summary

The SkillsHub and Hub350 Coordinator is responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of organizational events and programs that advance the mission and goals of the high school program. The successful candidate will coordinate daily program activities, connect students with industry partners, manage communications and events, and ensure the program delivers a high-quality learning experience.

The role requires strong organizational, communication, and project management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities, work directly with students and industry leaders, and deliver professional, high-impact experiences.

Key Responsibilities

Program Coordination

  • Act as the day-to-day coordinator for students and teachers engaged in SkillsHub programs.
  • Schedule and manage student programming with technology partners (e.g., Nokia, QNX, Sanmina, Syntronic, CPFC, Jabil, Ranovus, Ansys, Warner Brothers Discovery, Ross Video).
  • Coordinate industry-led guest lectures, workshops, mentorship sessions, and tours.
  • Ensure program content aligns with curriculum requirements and workforce needs, in collaboration with school boards and the Skills Council of Canada.
  • Track participation, engagement, and program outcomes, preparing reports and recommendations for continuous improvement.

Event Planning & Partner Engagement

  • Plan and deliver showcases, industry tours, milestone events, and media opportunities.
  • Manage event logistics: venue, catering, AV, registration, and supplier relationships.
  • Collaborate with corporate partners to ensure their contributions are recognized and celebrated.
  • Provide on-site event management to ensure smooth execution and participant satisfaction.

Marketing & Communications

  • Develop and schedule engaging content (social media, newsletters, blogs) to highlight student experiences, partner involvement, and program milestones.
  • Draft press releases, announcements, and updates for stakeholders.
  • Ensure brand consistency across all program and event communications.
  • Capture and share success stories to demonstrate student outcomes and program impact.

Administrative & Operational Support

  • Maintain accurate records of program activities, industry engagement, and metrics.
  • Assist with day-to-day operations at KNBA’s Hub350 and SCC’s SkillsHub, ensuring a professional and welcoming environment.
  • Support sponsorship fulfillment and relationship management.
  • Contribute insights and feedback to strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Event Management, Communications, Marketing, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 2–4 years of experience in event planning, program coordination, or education support.
  • Experience in not-for-profit, association, or member-driven environments is an asset.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Strong social media and content development skills.
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including students, educators, and industry partners.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, SharePoint, and digital collaboration tools; familiarity with event platforms (e.g., Eventbrite, Zoom) is an asset.
  • Flexibility to work evenings or weekends as required for events.
