About the Role
We are looking for a Regional Database Administrator (DBA) to join our regional IT organization and take ownership of database operations across multiple sites in the region.
The role has a strong hands‑on focus on monitoring, maintaining, optimizing, and automating enterprise‑critical and local database platforms, with special emphasis on Jabil Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
You will work closely with Site IT, regional IT, application development teams and global stakeholders to ensure high availability, performance, and scalability of business‑critical databases.
Key Responsibilities
Database Operations & Monitoring
· Monitor, maintain, and support Microsoft SQL Server , PostgreSQL, aws Redshift environments (on‑premises and cloud‑hosted)
· Ensure database availability, performance, and reliability in line with SLA and performance requirements
Maintenance & Automation
· Design, implement, and maintain database maintenance jobs (backup, restore, patching, indexing, housekeeping)
· Maintain Data lifecycle and introduce data archiving, purging process
· Proactively identify opportunities for automation and standardization
· Improve operational efficiency through scripting and tooling
· Ensure Database security compliance, lead Database updates and migrations
Performance Optimization
· Analyze and optimize database performance, including:
o Query tuning
o Index strategies
o Resource utilization
· Identify and resolve bottlenecks in high‑load environments
· Support capacity planning and growth forecasting
MES Database Focus
· Act as database subject‑matter expert for MES systems
· Ensure MES databases have the required resources, performance, and stability
· Work closely with application and MES teams to:
o Optimize complex queries
o Support application changes
o Prevent production issues
o Review Database changes
Governance & Best Practices
· Enforce database best practices for security, backup, recovery, and compliance
· Support audits and ensure adherence to corporate IT standards
· Contribute to documentation, runbooks, and knowledge sharing
Project and support involvements
· Co-work with product teams on Database design throughout on the SDLC process
· Maintain Database projects in git repositories
· Build and maintain CICD pipelines for the Database projects
· Actively participate in Incident Management and Problem management within IT SLA
Required Qualifications
Technical Skills
· Strong experience as a Database Administrator in enterprise environments
· Proven hands‑on expertise with:
o Microsoft SQL Server
o PostgreSQL
o AWS Redshift
· Solid understanding of:
o Building and optimizing SQL queries
o Database design
o High availability and disaster recovery concepts
o Performance tuning and troubleshooting
o Backup and recovery strategies
· Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure)
· Scripting experience (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, SQL, Python) is a plus
Professional Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science
· At least 3 years of experience supporting mission‑critical production systems
· Background in manufacturing, MES, or industrial IT environments is a strong advantage
· Ability to work across multiple sites and cultures in a regional role
Soft Skills
· Strong analytical and problem‑solving mindset
· Proactive, improvement‑oriented approach
· Good written and verbal communication skills in English
· Comfortable working independently and as part of a regional/global team
Nice to Have
· Experience with:
o Always On, clustering, replication
o Infrastructure‑as‑Code or DevOps practices
o Monitoring tools and alerting platforms
· Familiarity with ITIL / incident, problem and change management processes
