As a Facilities Technical Document Specialist/Writer, under general supervision, you will be responsible for development of facilities team processes, training, and documentation. The qualified candidate will also be a creative and proactive contributor, focused on continued improvement.
What will you do?
- Responsible for reviewing, revising, implementing, and training the facilities team on any current or new documented processes for the facility to include preventative maintenance (PM), corrective maintenance, equipment & tooling repairs, electronic PM tracking, equipment tracking, maintenance safety, facilities inventory, cost saving projects, hazmat inventory, and other operations involving ongoing maintenance of facilities.
- Develop/Review technical and maintenance safety procedures for: electrical work, waste handling, preventative maintenance, forklift operations, aerial lift operations, painting, plumbing work and/or carpentry repairs of fixtures and equipment on company premises.
- Develop/Review technical and maintenance safety procedures for: installation, relocation and reinstallation of new and/or existing equipment.
- Track maintenance and repair facilities related production support systems such as air compressors, air dryers, waste compactors, material elevators and dock equipment.
- Perform simple engineering calculations for proposed new equipment.
- Update mechanical prints or local work instructions when plant changes mandate.
- Coordinate with other functional departments in regard to major plant changes and follow up with appropriate facilities documentation needed.
- Coordinate with the Environmental Health & Safety department when developing facilities processes to ensure proper risk analysis and management.
- Coordinate with authorized 3rd party contractors and vendors to ensure they have supplied Jabil with all applicable up-to-date documentation as required to perform work on site.
- Support all facilities audits internal or externally hosted with the appropriate documentation. Follow up on requests for documentation that occurs during such audit scenarios.
- Submit new or revised facilities documentation through Jabil Memphis electronic document system.
- Use SAP EAM, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio, and Word to develop & maintain PM tracking and facilities documentation.
- Submit proposals and recommendations to department supervisor for upgrades or changes.
- Maintain maintenance records for each piece of equipment responsible for.
- Coordinate with Facilities Maintenance Technicians and Housekeeping staff to ensure all facilities equipment has maintenance performed as scheduled and per the written documentation.
- Coordinate with Facilities Supervisor, Technicians and Housekeeping staff to ensure supply & repair parts are ordered in a timely manner to support facilities operations.
- Coordinate with Facilities Supervisor, Technicians and Housekeeping staff to ensure supply & repair parts are accurately inventoried.
- Coordinate with Facilities Team to compile and submit documentation for cost-saving projects.
- Document troubleshooting and periodic inspections required to determine maintenance work on applicable equipment.
- Develop and train on preventive maintenance Instructions and ensure that the records for such are properly documented.
- Adhere to all safety and health rules and regulations associated with this position and as directed by supervisor.
- Comply and follow all procedures within the company security policy.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required, however, a Bachelor's degree in Training & Development, Information & Documentation or a similar field recommended.
- At least 3 years of experience in a technical documentation writing or training-based role; or demonstrated skills required to perform the job.
- Must be intimately familiar with Microsoft Suite programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Outlook, Visio, Forms.)
- Must have SAP experience or similar inventory and shopfloor program management experience.
- A minimum of proven experience with equipment maintenance and tooling.
- Strong Communication Skills both verbal and written.
- Experience writing technical documents.
- Ability to be Detail Oriented.
- Understanding of safety practices and requirements.
- Experience utilizing Windows Products (Excel, Word and Outlook).
