The Workcell Manager is responsible for the overall operational, financial, and people management of a dedicated business unit (Workcell). The Workcell Manager acts as the primary link between the Business Unit, Operations, and functional support teams, providing strategic direction and fostering a culture of high performance.

The Workcell Manager acts as the primary link between the Business Unit, Operations, and functional support teams, providing strategic direction and fostering a culture of high performance.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- People Leadership and Talent Management
- Recruitment and Development: Identify and communicate staffing requirements (including Engineering, Quality, and Technician roles) to Functional Managers. Coach, mentor, and foster the continuous development of all Workcell team members.
- Performance Management: Establish clear, measurable goals and objectives for the team, providing consistent, ongoing feedback to Functional Managers regarding team member contributions. Drive the team to continuously improve operational metrics and achieve customer goals.
- Communication and Team Culture: Serve as the critical communication link between the Business Unit and Operations. Organize forums for idea exchange, adapt communication style to team members' needs, and ensure that recognition and rewards are recommended consistently and fairly.
- Change Leadership: Coordinate the activities of large, multi-disciplinary teams and maintain focus and clarity during times of crisis or significant change.
- Operational Strategy and Financial Oversight
- Strategic Alignment: Define, develop, and implement a Workcell strategy that directly supports the site and campus strategic directions. Proactively communicate progress on this strategy to senior management (Function Manager, Business Unit Manager, Assistant Operations Manager).
- Resource Planning: Identify and communicate resource requirements (e.g., machines, production lines, visual systems) to functional leaders to meet customer demand and product needs.
- Financial Management and Forecasting: Develop and manage the monthly business unit financial forecast in partnership with the Business Unit Manager. Complete timely variance analysis of actual results versus forecast and communicate findings to stakeholders.
- Cost Control and Value: Continuously identify and implement creative ways to reduce cost and increase value by streamlining processes, consolidating tasks, and eliminating non-value-added activities.
- Continuous Improvement and Technical Execution
- Metrics-Based Management: Train and lead the Workcell team to manage operations by metrics, driving continuous improvement through trend reporting analysis and active management of all Workcell metrics.
- Process Efficiency and Quality: Assure that all procedures and work instructions are efficient, non-redundant, and adhere to the highest standards of quality.
- Best Practice Sharing: Proactively exchange knowledge and information with other in-house units and Jabil facilities to ensure best practices are utilized throughout the organization.
- Compliance and Review: Ensure all internal and external business plans, process changes, and personnel changes related to the Workcell are reviewed. Adhere to all health, safety, and security rules and regulations.
- Project Execution and Financial Accountability
- Integrated Planning and Management: Manage the development of comprehensive project plans, focusing on the achievement of specific Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Drive all program tasks to completion in accordance with the project schedule.
- Risk Mitigation: Coordinate team efforts to develop an integrated project plan and risk analysis, establishing action plans to proactively mitigate potential risks.
- Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Obtain and summarize current project information and milestone status against the performance baseline. Report project status, issues, and implemented solutions to leaders and key stakeholders, providing updates on variances to plan and corrective actions required.
- Experience: Minimum of five years of related experience, with at least one year in a formal supervisory/managerial role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Communication: Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and communicate complex technical, financial, and regulatory documents. Proven ability to effectively present information to top management and external groups.
- Analytical Skills: Strong ability to calculate figures, amounts (e.g., discounts, proportions, percentages), and apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry for financial and operational analysis.
- Problem Solving: Demonstrated ability to solve complex practical problems and deal with various variables in situations where standardization may be limited.
- Software Proficiency: Advanced PC skills are required, including mastery of standard office tools and an in-depth working knowledge of relevant Jabil software packages.
- Work Environment: Ability to work effectively under pressure with constantly changing priorities and deadlines. Required accessible to both the production floor and office staff environments.
