Job Summary

Jabil, Inc. is seeking a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer with a specialization in thermal management to drive the design, development, and validation of innovative thermal solutions for complex electronic systems. This role involves leading technical efforts, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring optimal thermal performance and reliability of Jabil's products.

Job Responsibilities

* Lead the conceptualization, design, analysis, and validation of advanced thermal management solutions for a variety of electronic products and systems, ranging from consumer electronics to enterprise infrastructure.
* Utilize CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) tools and other thermal simulation software (e.g., ANSYS Icepak, FloTHERM) to predict, optimize, and validate thermal performance of designs.
* Develop detailed mechanical designs, including component selection, material specification, and manufacturing process considerations, with a strong focus on thermal performance and cost-effectiveness.
* Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including electrical engineers, industrial designers, and manufacturing engineers to integrate thermal solutions seamlessly into product designs.
* Define and execute comprehensive thermal test plans, analyze results, and drive design iterations based on empirical data and simulation correlation.
* Lead technical reviews, present design concepts and analysis results to internal stakeholders and customers, and provide expert guidance on thermal design challenges.
* Mentor and guide junior mechanical engineers, fostering their technical growth and contributing to a strong team environment.
* Stay abreast of industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in thermal management and mechanical design.
* Document design specifications, analysis reports, test procedures, and other technical documentation thoroughly.
* Identify and mitigate risks associated with thermal design, ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations.

Job Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
* 5+ years of experience in mechanical design with a strong focus on thermal management in electronic product development.
* Expertise in thermal analysis and simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS Icepak, FloTHERM, COMSOL, Star-CCM+).
* Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, NX) for mechanical design and modeling.
* Strong understanding of heat transfer principles (conduction, convection, radiation) and fluid dynamics.
* Proven ability to lead technical projects, drive design decisions, and mentor junior engineers.
* Experience with thermal testing methodologies, equipment, and data acquisition.
* Knowledge of various thermal management techniques, including heat sinks, heat pipes, fans, liquid cooling, and phase change materials.
* Familiarity with manufacturing processes relevant to mechanical components (e.g., injection molding, sheet metal fabrication, machining).
* Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
