The Health and Safety Specialist at Jabil, Inc. is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and maintenance of comprehensive Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs to ensure a safe and compliant workplace for all employees.
Job Responsibilities
- Conduct regular workplace inspections and audits to identify potential hazards, compliance gaps, and opportunities for improvement in EHS practices.
- Assist in developing, reviewing, and implementing EHS policies, procedures, and training programs in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA).
- Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, and near misses, determine root causes, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain accurate EHS records, including incident reports, training logs, inspection findings, and compliance documentation.
- Deliver EHS training to employees on topics such as emergency preparedness, hazard communication, lockout/tagout, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Collaborate with various departments to integrate EHS considerations into operational processes, equipment design, and facility modifications.
- Participate in EHS committee meetings and actively promote a strong safety culture across the organization.
- Monitor and analyze EHS performance metrics, identify trends, and recommend strategies for continuous improvement.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials and waste in compliance with environmental regulations.
- Stay current on new EHS regulations, industry best practices, and technological advancements to maintain compliance and program effectiveness.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
- 2–4 years of experience in an EHS role within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant environmental and safety standards.
- Proven ability to conduct EHS inspections, audits, and incident investigations.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to train employees at all levels effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Certifications such as OSHA 30-Hour General Industry, ASP, or CSP are a plus.
- Physical ability to perform duties that may include walking, standing, climbing, and occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds.
