Lab Technician/Technologist, Level 1 - Environmental

About the Role: We are seeking a Level 1 Lab Technician/Technologist with experience and/or exposure to environmental testing to join our team. In this role, you will be part of setting up and executing tests across a wide variety of specialized environmental test equipment, including but not limited to: shock and vibration, temperature, climatic, pressure and many more. You will also play a key role in collaborating closely with engineering teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform testing services using specialty environmental test equipment.
  • Carry out quality control tests and report on materials, processes and products using measuring instruments and techniques to ensure conformance with customer quality standards.
  • Collect data and provide reports on such tests in the format designated.
  • Assist with maintenance and calibration of tools and equipment and perform general housekeeping duties.
  • Proper use of all the measuring equipment in house, including thermocouples, micrometers, calipers, extensometers, LVDT’s, strain gages, pressure transducers, accelerometers.
  • Demonstrate basic understanding of the safe operation, maintenance and calibration of all major equipment.
  • Perform other related duties and staff functions as required by the company.

Qualifications:

  • Electronic/Electrical/Mechanical Technician or Technologist Diploma.
  • Experience in materials testing, or environmental testing is preferred.
  • Demonstrate a sound technical knowledge in the field of environmental and material testing.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 quality system preferred.
  • Understand basic metrology terms: precision, uncertainty, tolerance, repeatability, hysteresis
  • Proven ability to interpret complex technical documentation and apply it to practical testing scenarios.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of successfully resolving complex technical challenges.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in data analysis software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Control Goods Status.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, bend, and stoop for extended periods.
  • Good manual dexterity for handling delicate equipment and connections.
