Job Description: Financial Accounting Specialist

Job Overview

The Finance and Operations Analyst is responsible for processing transactions within the accounting system, ensuring compliance with internal controls, supporting cost center management with financial insights, and contributing to accurate forecasting and budgeting activities. The role also includes maintaining regular financial reports in Power BI and ensuring the integrity of financial data for audit readiness.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinate and support activities related to the administration and maintenance of the financial accounting system.
  • Perform monthly expense analysis and provide clear reporting to cost center managers.
  • Maintain and update recurring financial and operational reports in Power BI.
  • Assist in meetings with cost center managers to review forecasts and preliminary budgets; highlight key issues, risks, or deviations and escalate to the supervisor when guidance is required.
  • Maintain the general ledger, prepare monthly journal entries for review, and compile supporting documentation for financial reporting.
  • Develop a strong understanding of internal customer requirements and ensure that financial processes meet or exceed expectations.
  • Ensure compliance with internal financial policies, accounting procedures, and control frameworks.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and audit‑ready financial and accounting records.
  • Perform additional duties and support other accounting activities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting or a related financial function.
  • Equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience is acceptable.
  • Solid knowledge of General Ledger accounting principles and processes.
  • Experience with ERP financial modules such as SAP or PeopleSoft.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong technical accounting skills and understanding of financial controls.
  • Strong analytical abilities and numerical accuracy.
  • Ability to identify financial issues and implement appropriate corrective actions.
  • Strong time‑management skills with the ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, managers, and internal stakeholders.
