Summary
The Associate Manager, Language Management is responsible for developing a high-performing network of specialized internal and external linguists to support IQVIA Language Solutions (LS) performance and growth. They lead a reduced team in the pursuit of their objectives and are a primary point of contact for them in people-management-related aspects. In doing so, they maintain excellent relationships and ensure successful collaboration with internal and external clients/stakeholders.


Key responsibilities
• Lead a team of Internal Linguists for them to perform according to the expectations of their role, in terms of goals and competencies.
• Assist Language Manager in the setting of goals for those Direct Reports, based on individual and team performance analyses and on LS defined strategic priorities.
• Achieve established utilization, volume, quality, and on-time delivery KPIs by reviewing high-visibility documents for priority clients.
• Provide linguistic feedback to the team of internal linguists on a monthly basis.
• Oversee the onboarding process of internal linguists to ensure they are in place within 3 months.
• Contribute to the hiring process by reviewing tests, participating in interviews, and discussing decisions with the Language Manager.
• Identify potential candidates for IL roles within the pool of External Linguists, and collaborate with the Talent Management team to assess future hiring potential.
• Actively contribute to improving the quality of the pool of External Linguists by collaborating with LQS, Talent Management and Onboarding PM team on a variety of initiatives.
• Lead initiatives and distribute and oversee responsibilities within the LM team to improve the quality of the pool of External Linguists and foster their engagement with LS.
• Produce, distribute, and present report/presentation materials to the Language Manager and potentially to the Associate Director of Language Management and member(s) of the Leadership Team.
• Identify and develop talent inside the team for succession planning and individual professional growth.
• Comply with relevant and applicable IQVIA Language Solutions SOPs and quality standards.
• Work closely with other IQVIA Language Solutions staff and contribute actively to other strategic initiatives as needed.
• Ensure all internal linguists are compliant with IQVIA Language Solutions defined standards in terms of experience and qualification.
• Carry out Quality Monitoring Processes within their team as needed and report challenges, progress, and results to the Language Manager.
• Follow IQVIA performance management and development best practices, with guidance from the Language Manager.
• Maintain accurate records of training activities, materials, and participant progress.
• Develop a culture of continued improvement, drive change, and challenge the status quo.


Required knowledge, skills and abilities
• Excellent written, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills. Fluency in English is essential; an additional language would be advantageous.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver results to the appropriate quality and time metrics, with a strong focus on performance KPIs, quality and compliance.
• Solid leadership and customer service skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with team members, management, operations staff, clients, and executive management members, with demonstrated cultural and emotional intelligence.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
• Excellent business and industry awareness staying current on trends and impact on the business.
• Strong critical thinking and analytical skills, with excellent attention to detail to ensure that high quality standards are maintained.
• Ability to communicate vision of IQVIA Language Solutions and be an ambassador to the broader IQVIA.
• Be able to adapt to project needs and shift priorities regularly based on changing demands.
• Excellent presentation and MS Office skills.
• Experience working with XTRF and/or memoQ as well as with any TMS would be an advantage.
• Ability to follow instructions/guidelines, work independently and on own initiative.


Minimum required education and experience
• Bachelor's degree, ideally in a linguistic, business, or scientific field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in the Translation and Localization industry.
• 1 year of experience in leadership roles is desirable.
• Has worked as a professional linguist during at least 2 years.


Physical requirements
• Extensive use of keyboard requiring repetitive motion of fingers.
• Extensive use of telephone and face-to-face communication requiring accurate perception of speech.
• Regular sitting for extended periods of time.
• Domestic and international travel eventually needed.
