Account Director (Sales Training), Medical & Scientific Communications

The Account Director is the strategic and executional lead across one or more brands or portfolios. This individual is the primary point of contact for client partners, responsible for building relationships, identifying opportunities, and ensuring flawless execution across all projects. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in sales training within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry, understands the nuances of a pharma sales rep’s day-to-day role, and can connect tactical deliverables to broader brand and training strategies.
This individual leads a cross-functional team including account supervisors, project managers, writers, and creative partners to bring high-impact sales training experiences to life—on time, on budget, and with excellence.
Our Sales Training Solutions: As the Account Director, you will oversee a wide range of innovative and impactful training deliverables, including:
- National Sales Meeting & Launch Meeting Workshops: immersive, experiential live or virtual sessions designed to drive emotional connection, brand alignment, and hands-on skill building
- On-Demand Learning Tools: self-paced and engaging formats such as interactive eModules, gamified learning, assessments, digital communications, and rep-facing resources
- Manager & Leadership Development: programs that support coaching, change management, and team performance, including workshops-in-a-box, coaching guides, and leadership facilitation tools
- Skills-Based & Clinical Training: tactical resources that sharpen selling skills, deepen clinical understanding, and align field behaviors to brand strategy and compliance needs
Key Responsibilities:
Client Partnership & Strategic Leadership—
- Serve as the main client contact for assigned brands or portfolios, fostering trust, collaboration, and strategic alignment
- Lead strategic discussions to uncover client needs, identify training gaps, and propose tactical solutions
- Connect the dots between brand strategy, training objectives, and rep behavior to inform recommendations and content development
- Lead client presentations and workshops, ensuring clear articulation of our ideas and their value to the sales force
Business & Financial Management—
- Manage scopes of work, budgets, and resource planning in partnership with project management and finance teams
- Monitor project profitability by actively overseeing freelance costs, timelines, and out-of-pocket spending
- Proactively identify and address risks to budget, scope, or margin—communicating with leadership and clients as needed
Project Oversight & Execution—
- Partner closely with the project management team to ensure clear roles, deliverable alignment, and seamless execution
- Provide strategic input on all deliverables, including training content, rep-facing materials, communication tools, and interactive experiences
- Guide and review work at every stage, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and alignment with training strategy and compliance standards
Team Collaboration & Leadership—
- Lead and mentor an account team (including Account Supervisors) by providing clear direction, support, and growth opportunities.
- Collaborate with internal partners across creative, content, medical, and operations to deliver exceptional results.
- Escalate issues thoughtfully, working closely with VP-level leadership to resolve challenges and capitalize on growth opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, business, or a related field
- 6–10+ years of medical communication agency or client-side experience in healthcare/pharmaceutical sales training or HCP marketing
- Proven leadership experience across client accounts, with a track record of building strong partnerships and delivering measurable results
- Strong understanding of the pharmaceutical sales environment and the strategic importance of effective sales training
- Ability to connect field insights and brand goals to tactical execution that drives behavior change
- Experience managing complex projects and timelines with cross-functional teams
- Deep knowledge of budget oversight, scope development, and resource planning
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
- Curious, proactive, and solution-oriented with a passion for elevating the sales rep experience

The potential base pay range for this role, when annualized, is $98,900.00 - $275,300.00. The actual base pay offered may vary based on a number of factors including job-related qualifications such as knowledge, skills, education, and experience; location; and/or schedule (full or part-time). Dependent on the position offered, incentive plans, bonuses, and/or other forms of compensation may be offered, in addition to a range of health and welfare and/or other benefits.
