Director - IT Architecture
IQVIA
Summary:
We are looking for a strategic and hands-on Director of Architecture to lead the end-to-end architecture of our Clinical Data Analytics Suite (CDAS). You'll architect scalable, cloud-native platforms using Azure, Snowflake, Databricks, and AI/ML-driven microservices—all while working closely with product, data, and clinical teams. If you thrive in ambiguity, move fast, and want to shape tech that impacts real patient outcomes, this is your chance to lead and make a difference.
Job Overview:
This role will define and drive architectural vision across cloud, data, AI/ML, and platform domains, with a strong emphasis on scalability, modularity, interoperability, and compliance with life sciences regulations (e.g., GxP, HIPAA, 21 CFR Part 11). The Director will partner with cross-functional teams to establish design standards, enable modern data platforms (Azure, Snowflake, Databricks), and drive innovation in clinical analytics and digital health technologies. Ideal candidates bring deep experience in regulated healthcare or life sciences environments, strong enterprise and data architecture expertise, and the leadership ability to influence across both business and engineering domains. With major strategic initiatives launching in 2026, this role will be essential to ensuring scalable and future-ready architecture from the ground up.
Essential Functions:
Architectural Strategy & Vision
Develop and maintain the enterprise architecture vision and technology roadmap aligned with business goals, regulatory requirements, and platform scalability needs.
Cross-Functional Leadership
Collaborate closely with product, engineering, clinical, and compliance teams to define solution architectures that balance speed, quality, and risk.
Design Governance & Standards
Establish architecture principles, reusable design patterns, and guardrails that promote consistency, security, and interoperability across platforms.
Platform Modernization
Lead architectural decisions for modernization efforts using cloud-native technologies (Azure), advanced analytics platforms (Snowflake, Databricks), and microservices/API-first frameworks.
Program Oversight & Future Readiness
Provide architectural leadership for upcoming strategic programs ensuring early engagement, alignment, and scalable design integration.
Innovation & Emerging Technologies
Evaluate new tools and technologies relevant to clinical data, AI/ML, real-world evidence, and platform engineering; promote adoption where appropriate.
Mentorship & Technical Guidance
Support and mentor solution and platform architects; foster a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and design thinking.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (Master’s preferred)
10+ years of experience in enterprise architecture or technical leadership roles, with at least 5 years in the life sciences, healthcare, or regulated technology space
Proven experience designing cloud-native solutions using Azure, Snowflake, Databricks, and modern API/microservices architectures
Strong understanding of regulatory standards (e.g., HIPAA, GxP, 21 CFR Part 11) and clinical data structures (e.g., CDISC, HL7, FHIR)
Track record of leading architecture for enterprise platforms or large-scale digital transformation initiatives
Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills
Ability to navigate ambiguity, prioritize effectively, and influence across business and technical domains
