MANAGER, VENTURE PROGRAMS INITIATIVES (FTE) - VENTURE DEVELOPMENT

INVEST OTTAWA – BAYVIEW YARDS

The Manager, Venture Programs Initiatives is responsible for leading the planning, execution, and continuous improvement of Invest Ottawa’s exclusive initiatives for technology startups and scaleups in the IO Venture Path programs. This role also oversees a group of paid and volunteer advisors and supports them in the delivery of peer groups, workshops, office hours, and other curated initiatives. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and thrives in a collaborative environment. They bring strong judgment, excellent communication skills, and proven experience managing multiple projects, stakeholders, and deadlines with ease.

  • Corporate Pay Band D: $72,800-$108,000
  • Hiring Salary Range: $72,000 - $85,000
  • Reason for opening: New Position
  • This position will be required to work onsite at Bayview Yards, minimum 10 days a month.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

Advisor Management

  • Lead the end-to-end management of a team of paid advisors, including recruitment, onboarding, contracting, communications, and ongoing relationship management.
  • Lead the volunteer advisor strategy, overseeing intake, contracting, policy compliance, and client feedback to ensure a high-quality experience for both clients and volunteers.
  • Build and maintain best practices and training for continuous improvement and consistent delivery.
  • Oversee advisor-related budgets, including forecasting, reviewing and approving invoices, and ensuring expenditures align with approved program budgets.

Peer Groups

Every month, our advisors facilitate around 15 peer groups that foster knowledge exchange and build community across our client companies. In this role, you will:

  • Support the strategy and execution of existing peer groups and launch new groups based on client feedback and demand.
  • Oversee all operational and logistical aspects, including membership management, speaker and facilitator sourcing, scheduling, contracts, and post-session follow-up.
  • Partner with Finance to manage vendor contracts, purchase orders, and payments.
  • Track, analyze, and report data through the CRM, identifying insights and recommendations for program enhancement.

Venture Programs Initiatives

  • Execute a suite of initiatives and curated experiences exclusive to IO Venture Path clients, ensuring strong alignment with leadership’s strategic priorities and organizational goals.
  • Coordinate the delivery of workshops, masterclasses, and other initiatives that enhance the client experience.
  • Source and manage guest speakers, including overseeing contracts and related financial documentation.
  • Work cross-functionally with various internal teams for cohesive delivery and brand alignment.
  • Collect and analyze participant feedback to inform continuous improvement.

Key Performance Indicators

Success in this role will be measured by:

  • Client satisfaction (i.e. NPS, survey results)
  • Attendance and engagement levels
  • Adherence to timelines and budgets
  • Quality and consistency of execution across all programs
  • Positive stakeholder and partner feedback

WHAT YOU HAVE ACCOMPLISHED/ GAINED THROUGHOUT YOUR CAREER:

  • Over 5 years of experience in program management, event management, or operations.
  • Experience leading and developing people, including setting expectations, supporting performance, and fostering a collaborative, high-performing team environment.
  • Experience managing routine financial administration, including purchase orders, invoices, and adherence to established processes.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable engaging with various levels of leadership.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and critical thinking abilities with sound judgment.
  • Collaborative and team-oriented, with experience working cross-departmentally.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and event management tools.
  • Experience using Eventbrite, Luma, and Canva considered strong assets.
